i am really curious about the daughter Qing-er that Zi Xuan has, but we never see her or are told much about her. Does this mean that Zi Xuan got cozy with another guy in order to fulfill her destiny of propagating the Nuwa line, or did her and MonkBoy strike it lucky the first time round? I need answers!

On the other hand, yah, i agree about the main OTP. The worst is, every so often, they'll throw us a bone, hinting at character growth. but that lasts for all of 10 seconds and we're back to childish squabbling again!

Qinger is supposed to be MonkBoy's and Zixuan's kid from that wedding night :) (Though I suppose they could have made out more than once on that wedding night, increasing their chances).

I think they are the grandparents of Crystal Liu's character in Paladin 1.

The main OTP is - ugh. If all the stuff they went through didn't change them, nothing will. I wonder who thought it was a great idea to have leads behave like a pair of 8-yr-olds.

I'm afraid to find out if third time's really the charm. Is it even possible for the cycle to end at this point?

No, basically they are always doomed because she's supposed to be the earth guardian and he's supposed to be great monastic leader/future immortal who escapes the cycle of suffering. And being together interferes with that so the universe and the gods are literally both against it.

So what happens at the end is they don't die but things go badly enough (universe really doesn't want them together) that they decide to separate for the greater good. So they make a potion to forget all their past and drink it together but as they walk away you see neither has drunk it because they'd rather live in torment with their memories then lose them.

So, short version = alive but cannot have each other while always longing for each other.

Chirpy.

Yup. This go-around they don't die but things go badly enough (universe really doesn't want them together) that they decide to separate for the greater good. So they make a potion to forget all their past and drink it together but as they walk away you see neither has drunk it because they'd rather live in torment with their memories then lose them.

They are so good together, I actually never finished watching this drama, because I didn't want to see them not get their well deserved happy ending.
