Still Jade Palace Lock Heart, of course

1. You know, Emperor Kang Xi really needs to talk to his punishments deparment. That was the most inefficient way to flambe anyone ever. I know the Inquisition used to burn people by piling dry wood and kindling around their body, so they'd either die from smoke inhalation or burn fairly quickly. OTOH, Kang Xi's executioners piled the wood and ( Read more... )

JPHL. again, so addicting.
Hahaha, that was exactly what i was thinking while QC was burning. I mean, if they were going to kill her, why place the burning bushes so far away? LOL. then again you don't want to burn up QC too badly before Eight comes.

Ahhh yes, i think more angst coming up. i've been watching a lot of the preview spoilers. *anticipates*
Oh dear, I AM wondering how the time-traveling will come back.

Psychotic Rui? Oh my, now that name is gonna stick with me too. Same same, my image of Rui has been ruined forever!!

AND SO HOT. that picture.

SO I have been reading some other forums on this drama. A lot of people seemed to be pissed off that JPLH is "plagerizing" Hanadan with direct scene lifting. I mean, its kinda true, but heck i love the series anyways. More Hanadan, the better! Don't you think?

I have no idea who the naked hottie is and how he's connected to JPLH but I sure like looking at him.

Yeah, I've seen people pissed about Hanadan thing but I love it to bits - how could you ever have enough? It's like this amazing, glorious Hanadan AU fanfic.

Yeah, the burning thing would have taken her hours to die. I get that sadism was de rigeur but it doesn't seem too effective.

Angst? Yes please. Also possibly swordfights and jails and other things I demand in my period dramas.

The answer to #5: I followed the pictures back to the original website, where someone on tianya is bemoaning the casting decision for Four (I don't think she finds him very attractive). And then someone put those pictures in the comments (presumably it's the same actor? As proof that he is attractive? I guess?).

It's partially subbed on viki. First ep didn't grab me but hmmmm...though I wonder if I am going to keep questioning whether he loves her or means to off her :)

If u must MUST know... pd/writer Yu is a crazybitch. He whipped this up as his original screenplay left and right. Rushed it to aired to steal the thunder from the Tangren production Bubujingxin. Bubuis official adaptation of the popular internet novel Jade is totally ripping plots off w/ plenty dashed of exact scenes from Meteor. So in a lot of C netizens pov this is too low coz pd Yu keeps flaunting it as his BABY, refusing to acknowledge all his copycatting ( ... )

Eh, I don't really care if he killed 20 people to get this done, as long as it entertains me, I am fine with it. I believe copystuff is not just his issue btw - I laughed for a long time at the makers of Meteor Shower denying their story was a Hanadan adaptation. But even there, my problem wasn't the theft, it was that was a bad drama.

Re: Yuan Hong as Four would be good but isn't he playing a small role in the rival version. Which begs the question why did the other production did not cast him as Four or Eight? Whatever PD Yu's biases in casting, the other maker can't share them so...I wish he was 4 or 8 though in the upcoming one (I am happy with this one having who they have as I love them in the roles. Actually, Four is probably my favorite character in JPLH even if I can't ship him with anyone, wouldn't ship even if he was played by Yuan Hong, as all the murder doesn't make a good dating prospect).

It's not to you, but it's understandable an issue with both fans of the novel he's totally ripping off, with a writer authorized adaptation in serious work, AND history buffs (ie the usual C period target audience) PD Yu is messing with a snippet of well known history, as with most of the naysayers r. I'm more with you, nth against HYDing a 'historical' drama THAT time travels, peeps should not take it too seriously. Not as offended as most C netizens, though I totally see where they r coming fr, esp considering there are more fans of the real princes than HYD all versions combined. And really, the C audience is a tough crowd to please, they r so well read in their history even for a random middle schooler ( ... )

I majored in history and seriously considered getting a PhD as well and once upon a time I used to get very offended at liberties taken by movies and tv shows (when Braveheart came out I remember an hour-long rant and ditto on Gladiator) but I have mellowed out a lot since and actually did a complete 180 - I don't care about accuracy as long as it works as a story. Any accuracy is a bonus but not expected at all - anyone who is looking to get their history from fiction isd seriously deluded. I mean, if I enjoyed The Tudors, I clearly am no purist (their changes accidentally erased the modern royal family, lol). are cdramas normally accurate? If so, lucky them.

My impression of all the royals in JPLH is they would murder you as soon as look at you. Fun in fiction, not so much in rl.

I think anyone who liked Shower of Fail should be barred from complaining about JPLH because the latter is a much better drama AND take on Hanadan than the former (and if they suddenly seem concerned with copyright, yeah right, then neither acknowledged the Hanadan thing).

Whatever. I am going to keep on loving it. And my Psychotic Rui :)

There won't be any fangirl of Shower of Fail complaining about JPLH. It's one of the most 'popular' drama to tease in that TianYa forum, nicked Shower of Thunder, (thunder in C slang= crazybad to point of hilarious)
