Loved Ahjusshi. He is masterful in it, everything from direction, fight choreography, camera, OST worked. I love when a film watching experience leaves me so thoroughly pleased. I discovered Korean cinema long ago and dramas just this past year so I watch pretty much anything that comes out with subs, of Won Bin films I watched Mother, Taegukgi/The Brotherhood of War and Guns and Talks. He was good in all of them but of those I liked Taegukgi the best (I have a thing for war movies). Everything you said about his acting was spot on and Ahjusshi is going into my favourite Korean films (films in general) pile together with Joint Security Area, Dirty Carnival and Rough Cut.
I actually just watched this yesterday, I'm a big action movie fan myself so I was so looking forward to this one ever since the trailer came out. It did not dissapoint, Won Bin was great(I've seen some of his other work but I think his recent work is far more better. I cried in some scenes and was all yay the bad guys exploded in other scenes, and the little girl who acted Soomi just won me over. Such a good film, soon I hope to see Won Bins other movie Mother as well.
HOLY CRAP. i just realized this, but did you know that Jong-Suk (one of the baddies), in The Man From Nowhere is actually Secretary Kim from Secret Garden!!!?!?!
omg if you like won bin in this, you should watch 'mother'! i like that one better than ajusshi. but ajusshi's great too! there are just too much fighting scenes which are not my cuppa tea.
