*wants* But I'm heroically holding off until the drama is over so that I can watch the second half all in one go with all the subs.
Makes me want to rewatch some earlier episodes to get some KS/JJ goodness. Try as I might to get on board the YS/DA train, they just don't hold the same attraction to me than KS/JJ. I like them but I can take them or leave them.
I just learned than MBC cut another drama (120 episodes to 50!) and I'm so glad that Gloria was able to get its whole run. Character development is so well done in this drama, they use all the episodes they have very effectively.
I love YS/DA to bits but I don't know which OTP I prefer - it varies from ep to ep (e.g. ep 39 was all DA/YS rabidshipping and ep 40 was KS/JJ).
Re: cutting. Yeah, I saw that article on dramabeans. I can't blame MBC there too much actually. 70 eps, for a daily drama is 14 weeks - they can save 14 weeks of awful ratings. Dailies are supposed to bring in huge ratings but this one was getting lower rating that weekend drama like Gloria which wasn't a huge hit to start with!
Of course, the problem with MBC being so trigger happy is that now nobody with much clout and ability will want to bring their stuff to MBC - writers, PDs and actors don't want to have their drama cut in an insane fashion. So basically it's going to become a station of last resort for products KBS or SBS didn't want. Even for their ih-house productions, they are going to find it hard to lure first-rate PDs and writers or big name stars.
I've gotten quite good at resisting temptation but I admit it's hard! Re-watching some of the earlier episodes and being obsessed with other dramas like SG does help a lot though :o)
Yeah, it's like a vicious circle for MBC. It makes me wonder if the station is run by incompetent idiots (such as we often see in dramas actually). My Princess seems to be a hit so I hope they'll be able use it as a springboard to break out of that circle. Many of my favorite dramas were aired on MBC so I'd like to see them back at the top of their game.
MBC is coming back on top, actually - their dramas are winning both M/T timeslot (with Queen of Reversals, which I will watch if Park Shi Hoo gets the girl) and W/Th (with My Princess). Hopefully that will mean they will do better in their judgment this year.
Your post title is so appropriate. I can't even function when this drama's on. Why are they so pretty? And amazing? And awesome? I don't want this drama to end.
