I totally thought of Lu Zhi during this scene. Sure, it's a guy's fault you snuck up on him and stabbed him in the back with a ginormous knife which gave him a bad enough wound that if he didn't know a super-secret-complicated method of healing would have killed him. And poor Hu Ge is trying to defend this guy even after this, to his gf, and insisting it wasn't him (because otherwise she'd go after him).

Seriously - I do not know why he is always in dramas where these psychos whose life he's saved and to whom he's been incredibly nice do these horrid things and blame him for it. I mean, I know that's how I'd choose to repay a life debt - trying to kill the savior.

But thankfully this isn't The Myth so there is no horrid deaths and stuff - instead we get yummy h/c and healing :)

Now that you mention it, there's another one in Young Warriors too (and kinda another one in Little Fairy). I wonder what is it about Hu Ge that attract backstabbers >_<

Yeah, poor Yuan Hong said in interviews he had a really really hard time playing YK in the midde episodes. If the producers had stuck with the novel made made YK a flat out power and status hungry bad guy, YH could have played him straight as an uber baddie. But they chose to change YK's character arc so drastically in the beginning, that when it comes time for YK to do all the same evil shit he does on the novel, it seems so hard to accept cuz it doesn't make much sense. In the novel, YK never accepts GJ, ever!, so when he stabs GJ it's totally aligned with who he is. GJ means nothing to him so he stabs GJ because GJ is an obstacle. Here, it hurts so much considering they did become brothers first. Anyways, in the middle eps there are moments when I could sense YH thinking, what the he'll is the producers asking me to do?! Anyways, we all know YK pays all his dues at the end. And this interlude gives HR and GJ uber bonding time.

I still think Yang Kang is the most interesting character in the drama, even if he is currently driving me into a homicidal rage.

The thing that makes it so interesting to me is that he wasn't this useless evil nasty piece of work from the start - yeah, he was a little spoiled, but his heart was in the right place and he actually became this really cool guy whom I adored (there was a very long stretch where I was all about him and didn't find GJ very interesting at all and was all "OK, let's just concentrate on YK storyline). I mean, he went from earning $$ in the street to support Nianci and fighting his family enemies to the death rather than surrender and even putting up with torture without revealing his name to - this ( ... )

Speaking of, couldn't they have made him pay those dues when he was still evil and horrid? No, they had to wait until he snapped out of it and became awesome again and had an adorable baby. Thank you so much, TPTB, for twisting the knife for maximum damage!

Yang Kang is so stupid and I don't really feel sorry for him at all (I even felt a bit sorry for Ouyang Feng, daddy of all evil, but for Yang Kang no!!)
