I recently watched this, because my older sister rec'ed it to me. She's a fan of Austen and described it as a 'cool' little series. It's only four episodes, so you could watch it in a day. I thought it was very much like a fanfic. Modern girl tossed into the world of PandP.
The interesting thing is this woman wants to make things just like they are in the book, but keeps screwing up while falling for Darcy - and he for her. It is very much a fanfic, albeit a very well written one. I say, if you can get past the fanfic aspects you may like it.
I watched this when it came out, for some reason (not an Austen fangirl), and I did quite enjoy it. Yes, very fanfic-ey, but in a good way. Plus, Gemma Arterton is in it, and I adore her. Though I did get slightly slow towards the end...
I'm a huge Austen fan and enjoyed it immensely, but I recced it to a friend and she hated it, so I think it's each to their own. Go into it knowing that characters will make choices that will have you scratching your head, and some of the gender dynamics are a bit odd, but I thought it was fluffy, mindless fun. :)
I think you'd love Lost in Austen. it's hilarious and alot kinder to the more let's say antagonist female characters of the book and allows them a level of complexity they lacked in the original work. the mini series itself is very silly and not amazing storytelling by any means, but if you are an austen or P&P fan and can appreciate a bit of crack and liberties with the canon (which is the whole point of the series really) then definitely you'd enjoy it! :D I saw it and liked and would give it a 3 out of 5.
