Dollhouse ending

Feb 05, 2010 20:40

So, I read detailed spoilers/summary for the ending of Dollhouse.

I have only one thing to say: BWAHAHAHAHAHHAAAAAA.

Though I am glad for Victor and Sierra. They were the only worthwhile thing in this whole repellent mess.

dollhouse, teevee

Agree. Here's the thing about that show: it was so disappointing as a whole. They seriously spent way too much time on the Echo character. WAY too much time. Eliza D. can't carry a show, I'm sorry. She's a sweet lady, but lacks as an actress. I believed she wasn't just a tough-girl Faith knockoff twice in season one, and maybe. . .four times in season two. So, yeah.

I liked the growth of Topher in the second season, and was sorry for he and Bennett - they were cute in a 'we're both sociopaths' kind of way. It sucks that Alpha was just a love-sick psycho and not a true Big Bad. But, I adored Victor/Tony and Sierra/Pirya, so I'm glad that they at least got a happy ending.

I could care less about boring!dead!mind!Paul and Echo. And, and that Boyd thing? WTF, where they on drugs? Oh, and Dewitt. . .yeah, I liked her alright. So, maybe she can become an awesome person now?

Eliza is hot and charming but she cannot really act.

To be fair with the storyline this bad, nothing could have saved it - the biarre rape fantasy that this show too often was was off-putting from the start.

I agree. Yeah, they (well, some of them) signed contracts and volunteered for it, but there bodies were used for goodness knows what. It was creepy. The idea that you could remove a person's personality and memories, but a part of that person (be it a soul or whatever) remains and that it (soul, whatever) can evolve and become, almost someone new, is interesting. But, the first season wasted so much on Echo and her "clients" and the show really became the "rape fantasy sci-fi" show. It was supposed to be about these "Dolls" evolving, and it became a waste.

Did the show EVER show anyone voluntarily going in? The episodes I saw implied that Mellie/Madeline/November may have, but never confirmed it. Alpha was literally sold to them, CVaroline and Sam were told to sign or get permanently disappeared, and Priya goes without saying.

I'd shed tears all right - for hours I wasted.

I loved Tahmoh Penickett in BSG (as half of a really unusual love story, no less) but here - whyyyyyyyyyyyyy?

Must butt in to say: Yes! I saw him on BSG and thought he was a good actor. He was fairly bland here. Eliza Dushku and her bad acting really brings out the worst in her co-stars sometimes.

Plus - I do not believe Echo/Paul was true love. It was disgusting. He was obsessed with her when all he knew was her name. He was willing to "save" her, but no one else. Creepy, creepy, creepy!

In another universe, there is a version of Dollhouse focusing on Victor and Sierra and the dolls are primarily used for espionage and the focus is on the idea of self and recognition (as opposed to the fetishization of rape and abuse fantasies and pity parties for rapists, abusers and human traffickers) and they eventually lead the other dolls in taking down the mindraping slavers.

I want to live in that universe.

Actually, I'm amazed they didn't kill Sierra off in the end.

(Some kind person should upload an editted version of just Sierra and Victor's parts of the episodes I didn't watch, to help fuel my fantasies.)

I was actually thinking of starting from season one episode six and uploading all Victor/Sierra scenes.

P.S. I like your idea.

Envber Gjojak and Dichen Lachman in a Spies In Love show is currently my ultimate dream for US TV. Unless they become the leads in a Remington Steele remake. I would totally be on board for that.

Let me know if you end up doing that.

AHHH, don't even get me started on Dollhouse. My favourite couple was Paul/Mellie. First I found out she was a doll, I said it didn't matter they could still be together, then he became a doll, then they decided to be together, then she kills herself because she is scared she is going to kill him. Then he gets together with Echo, then he dies, then Boyd is evil, then Boyd blows up, then Topher dies, and finally Echo freaking imprints herself with Paul's personaly to be together with him.

I am so glad it is over. I couldn't take anymore of that.

Dollhouse got really really good at the end though. Topher and Adelle were always my favorites (I maintain he was never amoral but simply did not consider the dolls to be moral subjects initially--he actually was a lot more concerned with getting their bodies back to their owners than anyone else even before his "moral awakening"), but even you would've liked where they took Topher in the 2nd season.

But that belief in itself is amoral. Ehhh, anyway, at least it's over.
