I am ridiculously in love with Innocent Love and I have just figured out why - it's a Victorian sensation novel in drama form. Like something out of Wilkie Collins or Mary Elizabeth Braddon

Oh, I thought you have finished this drama already! I am not going to spoil you unless you want it. :D And absolutely yes - this is a Victorian novel set in Japan, and that gospel song they used really adds to the atmosphere.
