Mind over matter, clearly...

My recent resurgence of interest in jdramas (after it being dormant for over a year) can be attributed to incredibly high-minded motives:

Security Police!

Okada (a grown-up Johnnys who can actually act) and Tsutsumi Shinichi, aka sexy pimp daddy #1.

All of a sudden the high-minded Sartrean exposition on the meaninglessness of life that is Security Police is added to my list of soon-to-watch existensialist dramas. It is so...deep.

It actually has a really awesome plot, provided you give it a little time. And the eps are only a half-hour each. *tempts*

MMMMm I need to watch this, if only for Ryo. It's been on my hard drive tempting but I heard it was super deep and then someone told me it was kind of cracky so obviously I must watch to figure it out.

Plus.

Ryo.

The depth is amazing indeed.

Is there any romance?

HAHA I have one to suggest but you will NEVER watch it. . .

1 Litre no Namida.

Seriously it kills. And then after it kills, it kills some more.

I think I cried every episode, starting at episode 4. Seriously. Buckets. Tears. And I NEVER CRY. Not even in A Love To Kill, well, maybe once in ALTK. Okay, not even in Sorry I Love You! Ever. Never.

But I doubt it's what you're looking for.

But.

It does have Nishikido Ryo!

Nope - one drama on my never list - might as well take depressants :)

I second Ryusei no Kizuna - I think it has what you like in drama. Also "Last Friends"!!! It is even better than "Innocent Love".

I read about LF and it sounded too dysfunctional even for me (plus, no otp!)

LF: Oh, there was an OTP (few actually, and not just the main character's love for another girl, but few others too) and it all ended quite unconventionally!! I also didn't think it was dysfunctional - just really sad and very angsty in parts. I thought this could be up your street because the main herouine is so awesome and also because you like other things in dramas too - it is done very well psychologically.

Ryusei no Kizuna: has stacks of OTPS, sstepsibling love and the main herouine is very strong too.

Yeah, but I am not keen on unconventional and while I am totally fine with lesbians in rl, I prefer my fictional love stories to be het - otherwise my attention wanders - I need a man in there somewhere (and not in the evil abusive rapist ex role :P).

RnK sounds awesome. I'll definitely check it out.
