Thoughts on Resurrection eps 1-2, and some other stuff

1. I am about half an ep into Summer Scent and it's official: I really really like it. I doubt I am going to be bawling my eyes over any of the characters as the premise is so OTT from the start - Heroine has received a heart transplant from Hero's dead fiancee - when fate throws them together, what will happen? It's a kdrama, love is what will ( Read more... )

This is SUCH a good drama! I am so glad it got picked!

Yay! I'm so glad you like it and can't wait to read your reactions further along.

It is really really good. And I am oddly unspoiled :)

Wasn't there a movie starring Hugh Grant that did the 'dead wifes heart gets implanted into new lover' thing? I feel like I've heard of that before.

It sounds waaay too depressing for me and for some reason I shy away from things that involve marriage and/or dead spouses.

But yay! Resurrection. It sounds good! And there's sibling/faux sibling love? Just my thing. (I remember that I have to finish One Fine Day, I started it but just never finished and if I remember correctly there were also faux-sibling shenanigans in that one).

It was with David Duchovny and Minnie Driver. There is also a Bolly movie with Salman Khan and Bhoomika Chawla. Clearly a popular theme :)

It doesn't seem too depressing - maybe because I am not invested as too OTT? or maybe I am just relieved SSH does not die?

Resurrection: yes on faux-sibling love. So good. Also, I adore One Fine Day but it's a 'typical' kdrama in some ways which might or might not be your thing - I did an epic picspam and can link ya if you don't mind spoilers.

I'll take a look at your picspam when I start watching it again. I've got so much on my plate that I think One Fine Day is gonna be put on the backlist until I finish some of my current dramas.

BUT GAH. That picture is adorable!!!

I moved One Fine Day up my list a few days ago after writing a synopsis of it re-sparked my interest:) It's now at #3 I believe.

You are SO good at making an intro that makes sense plus touches all the valid points. :) I never seem to be able to put out my thoughts half as well, I'm always at loss of words thus come out sounding halfassed, LOL! And now I have this uncontrollable urge to rewatch - again. Sigh.

Uhm Tae Woong! Not really good looking but when he's on screen it's very hard to concentrate on anyone else. And he does it with any type of role. I've seen most he's been in and I'm always impressed. He's just so intense and seems emotionally invested in his roles, even the bit parts. And the way he kisses! Like he really means it, ha. I'll give you exhibit A. *g* Wish that part of the MV wasn't quite so dark.

LOL. That's kind of hilarious because the last episode was probably one of the worst. In terms of KSW, I think he did well enough with what he was given but I think ultimately the problem was his love interest who is just so very, very young - and I mean that as an actor more than as a person - and years away from being a legitimate counterpart to KSW. Had there been a more experienced actress cast in the role, I have no doubt that while it still would have been shallow, it would have been a more interesting viewing experience.

Resurrection sounds pretty cool and incredibly dark. Is it terribly angsty? On a scale of SJS dramas what would you give it? Heh.

Yoona was AWFUL. She couldn't act at all - I don't have very high standards but she violated even those. She actually has the distinction of being the first Korean actress I dislike. I never had one before, as they always had something to recommend them - looks, or charm, or acting. But she can't act, has no charm or chemistry, and her face is sort of freaky-looking, to me. Also, what possessed the makers to cast her opposite KSW who was already a star when she was in elementary school? It does not do her any favors and it makes him look old. Plus, negative chemistry, if such thing is possible.

Resurrection has a happy ending plus it's a walk in the park compared to SJS fare :)
