Largely on Bujold

I've started rereading L.M. Bujold's space opera Miles Vorkosigan series, starting with the chronologically first - "The Warrior's Apprentice." It's been years since I've read them last but I find they hold up very well, even though when I first read them, at 21, I was only a few years away from Miles at 17 in TWA and Miles of 30 in e.g. "Memory" ( Read more... )

All i've read of Bujold is the two Cordelia books, but the society struck me very much as being based on Russia, with some German society thrown in.

I watched the first two episodes of Triple and enjoyed it. Good cast, awesome writing, I see a lot going for it. And, for the shallow gal in all of us - the other two male leads are cute. :)

I don't know, it just feels too lowkey and mellow for me (neither Capital Scandal nor Coffee Prince came across that way - they had premises instantly appealing to me). Plus, I like the other two leads but I don't LOVE them, so...ehhhh.

I love Miles like burning. The first time I read Memory, I had to put down the book several times because I was crying so hard I couldnt see the page. It's still my favorite book.

I prefer Miles to Cordelia, but I think that's because I started with him, and read her later. but she is AWESOME.

Mark has grown on me. I hated him A LOT when we first met him, but he's gotten much more likable. i like the Black Gang.

I do adore Kareen, though, I have to say.
