So I've never watched the first four seasons of Buffy, which I understand is a bit of a bizarre situation to be in. But! Prompted by your rewatch, I started watching season 1 yesterday.
:)
I miss Spike, though. I was a pretty hardcore Spike/Buffy shipper back in the day, probably because I found Spike so overwhelmingly hot that I wanted to see him naked always, and I wanted him to get whatever he wanted.
:points to icon: Plus Buffy was good at friendships too. (I didn't really care who was paired in the first three seasons, 'cause overall it was all so good. I did always kinda want Xander and Willow together. But Oz is so cool, who could hate him?)
I love the scene when he takes her skating.
That's a cute scene, although Buffy skating by herself goes on a mite too long.
Kendra's accent: Hee. Every once in a while I will still bust out the "That's me favorite shirt! That's me only shirt!" I still vote for Angel's accent as the worst though, because at least we don't know where Kendra comes from.
Ted isn't one of my favorites, but John Ritter did such a great job in Ted. He was so creepy.
Yay! I am so excited! Rewatches are awesome. The s&m stuff is really blatant for me this time around.
Always felt Anya was a bad copy of Cordelia anyway (oh and don't get me started on the Cordy/Angel stuff in Angel... *gags*)
I think we will definitely agree on both of these.
So totally 'Beauty and the Beast.'
And totally ties to Darla's comment in S1 when she sarcastically asked Angel if he thought she would see his 'true face' and give him a kiss. Because she does. EEEEE!
wonder if RTD hadn't gotten inspired by this for his Ten/Rose ending, but I digress...
I wonder...now this is some sort of mind-equivalent of an earworm and the thought won't go away.
at the time I was just like 'hey, he's old'... now, I find him well enough. ;))

Ooh... I had forgotten about this!

Sorry! The thought just popped into my head as I wrote your review, like 'Oh. RTD is a 'Buffy' fan. Normal life, having kids and all??' And the more I thought about it, the more I could see the parallels between B/A and Doctor/Rose. Not that RTD wrote a bad copy of B/A because the two pairings are quite different, but some similarities struck me all of a sudden. *ponders*
Oz & Willow were one of those relationships I loved right from Halloween
I never really thought about the S&M in the show before, I guess it went over my head but now I re-watch it and go gee! no wonder it got moved to the 10:30 timeslot in Australia :)
I, too, loved W&O from the start, but I started the show when they were already a couple, so not sure how valid that is :)
I noticed the s&m and the sexing the first time around, too, but now that I am older (and if not wiser, then at least sicker-minded), it stands out a lot more.

I thought Kendra was from Jamaica? Or was I hallucinating...

I know they never actually say where Kendra is from, but now that I think about it they may have specified where her plane was coming from.
