Whoish...

I finally had time to catch up on Doctor Who and Battlestar Galactica. BSG deserves (and will get) its own post, but I can't say I cared for the latest Who ep.

Spoilers for The Doctor's Daughter )

I swear the terraforming brought her back to life, but no one agrees with me. Didn't her glowy breath look the same as the stuff that came from the orb?

Various other clones that we saw killed during the ep.

Yeah, I gave up about halfway through when I realized that Jenny was going to die/become irrelevant. For a person who's horrified about the genocide of his species, Ten didn't seem to excited by the existence of a new Time Lord. The fact that she lacked time-lordy experiences seemed like a pretty ridiculous objection.

Exactly. According to that logic, no kid could ever be part of the species.

Oh you didn't like the episode? :(

I did actually. I thought it would be pretty boring and I would be irked by the daughter but I found myself really liking this story arc. Probably because Tennant made me care... I'm no big fan of Jenny but I kinda liked her for all the angst it brought to the Doctor. :P I understood his reaction completely actually. He's lost so much, it's understandable that now he just can't bring himself to bond with a daughter of all people... He protected himself the whole episode. And he finding she's a biological anomaly is no more arrogant than his reaction towards Jack in 'Utopia', methinks...

Also, I agree with the person who said Jenny didn't regenerate. She didn't, she was brought back to life with the terraform thing. Probably because she's got timelord DNA and/or she was very close to it when the Doctor broke it and right before she was shot.

It's not the best episode of DW but I liked all the Doctor angst myself. :P

I guess I just didn't feel the basis for the angst, myself. It was sort of...I knew too little about her to care.

Oh I didn't care a lot about her either but I cared about the angst the whole Time war trauma left in the Doctor. That was great... ;)

I don't know, his angst felt a little tacked on. But IMO.

i thought it was okay and its just another eps that reinforces the whole concept that he is not alone according to the face of boe.....

do you think its kinda cool that the girl that played jenny is the daughter one of the old doctor who actors?

WHATEVER! It had Chris from Skins in it. Automatic A++. (He was the soldier boy Jenny tricked with kissing.)

I am kind of terrified by the (completely made up by me) prospect that somehow Jenny could end up with her own spin-off series aimed at teens. (Why stop at two spin-offs? Clearly three are needed.)

I have been seeing mentions of Skins all over my flist. What is it?

A British teen drama. I really liked the first series, which was a good mix of humor, believable human drama, and a couple soapy parts that still worked. The second series got super melodramatic and completely changed the tone of the show. I still haven't watched the finale since I was so mad at the second-to-last episode. There is going to be a series 3, but it will focus on one of the original character's younger sister and her friends. I might watch it, just to see if they go back to the original tone.
