I was skimming through your LJ yesterday and saw some other picspams on The Devil. I'm somewhat intrigued by the psychic librarian, etc. What kind of show is it?
Oh, and my d/l of Legend is progressing nicely. I should have the whole thing by sometime tomorrow. When I'll be able to watch it is another story...
Let me know if you need help figuring out subs/players etc.
The Devil (also known as Mawang) is basically a mystery/revenge story. A bunch of murders start happening, and victims get tarot cards. More interestingly, someone (presumably the killer) also sends tarot cards and cut-out messages to one of the detectives before the murders. What is going on? Why are these people being killed, and how is the detective involved/connected to them? Also, how is it all involved with the very successful, very reserved young lawyer. And there is a Librarian who is a psychometrist. She can see some of the past events by touching objects at the scene.
It's really very clever and interesting and wonderful and beautifully shot. And there is some shippiness too.
I'm hoping the person who put up the files included the subs like they do in fansubbed anime. I usually use VLC or bsplayer to view, depending on which one actually shows me the video :) Sometimes one does and one doesn't.
The subs were what made me nervous on the j-addict site you directed me to ages ago. The stuff on mininova tends to be prepackaged for dummies so hopefully there won't be a problem.
If they're packaged the way I'd like, I'll probably burn them and watch on my tv. My monitor is hella old and the windows seriously bow inwards. And the margins are all the way out to the side where I can't see anything.
Can't wait!
The Devil sounds totally up my alley. I love murder mysteries with some supernatural. Perhaps that will be my second!
If you dl video files but the subs aren't working or are not attached, let me know and I'll talk you through (it's pretty easy, I'll direct link you to subs and all you have to do is name them the same as vid files).
I am not sure who Ohno is but I think that a Japanese re-make could be interesting. I have seen few Japanese dramas that dealt with "darkness of human soul" so well.
I guess...I just don't see the point. The original was already so incredibly well done. And it's not like something like Hana Yori Dango which is based on another medium (i.e. a manga) so it's interesting to see different interpretations. Plus, with Hanadan, Meteor Garden could have used a bigger budget/better actors and Hanadan more of the manga stuff, so I see room for both but with this? Naaah.
It doesn't help that I find jdramas remarkably hit and miss and all the ones I love are of a very different vibe from Mawang. Or the fact that I don't care for the cast.
ohno is in arashi band with matsumoto jun. He mostly do butai, but this is the first time that he do a drama. fan had been waiting for him to do a drama for so long. so this is an excitement for all. I guess since his last butai he portray as a person who in pain because cause he so focuses on revenge, this could fit him. for toma, i like him, but since i never seen him any serious drama before, who know. i looking forward to it because i usually like dark jdrama.
Though I haven't seen The Devil yet, I know that Ikuta Toma would not match as being in that sort of drama. He just seems to comical to play a serious role. He could prove me wrong though.
Speaking of The Devil, I just got this drama and now I'm tempted to watch it because of your review...and also because I want to see it before the Jdrama rapes it beyond any recognition.
By the way, I just wanted to let you know that I friended you. ^_^
Oh, yeah, heard about the Japanese remaking this drama. I haven't actually watched any Japanese drama (there was one that I tried very, very early on, with Takeshi Kaneshiro: but that kind of turned me off with Japanese doramas for life) so I don't know how much I'm taking this news.
I'm still loving the visual. I really will make time for it this weekend.
Prideis my fave jdrama ever, and has a wonderful OTP, so yeah, check it out.
Something like Tatta Hitotsu No Koi might be your thing, it felt very kdramaish. Aishiteiru To Itte Kure is wonderful, too, about an actress who falls for a mute painter. I can link you to vids :)

I can think of a couple kdramaish jdramas if you ever wanted to give jdramas another try btw (for me jdramas are a very mixed bag).

I watched "Friends," a very old one with Won Bin and a Japanese actress way, way before. It's okay but nothing spectacular.
