Bichunmu: Do you like your rebels star-crossed in love?

Feb 18, 2008 23:01

After finishing Que Sera Sera, I am in a bit of a drama lull, especially since I am showing The Legend to filmi-girl and following Hong Gil Dong weekly, and enthusing over more than two dramas at a time takes energy. Ergo a few days to recharge.

Btw, is Kame's One Pound No Fukuin good? I sort of haven't watched any since ep 1 but I noticed that my flist ( Read more... )

Most wuxia "OTP interferers" are actually pretty good and likable characters. At least, most of the ones I've seen have been that way, even the ones who started out annoying.

BTW, I'm not sure, but Legend MIGHT be based on this(another release states that it has a live action series based on it that was either just made, or about to be made...I'm not sure.)

Also, Bride of the Water God Vol 2 is out.

I don't think the Legend is based on it (read the plot dscription) but it does look cool. Good thing Korea has a long history, or they'd be running out of Kings whose lives to turn into stories (btw, I really want to see Lee Seo Jin's Yi San, but will probably wait till dvds. I forgot, are you interested?)

Re: OTP interferers, true. The one character I loathed wasn't OTP intereferer (what's her name in Return of Condor Heroes, the one who lops our Hero's arm off. Ugh. I seldom hated a character more). The OTP interferer girl here is aspoiled but cute, and I am shipping her with he chief bodyguard, who is hot and has a thing for her.

"Spoiled but cute" is a lot of these girls. The one in Romance of Red Dust starts out a serious interferer, but once she figures out they aren't meant to be(it only takes a few eps...she's the one who gets him through the paralysis through gangrene bit) she basically becomes a shipper. IIRC, she also chews her brother out for his own OTP interferer status.

I'm interested in pretty much all the Korean period dramas...but especially the ones that have Lee Seo Jin and Song Il Gook.

I've liked the other books I've read from that publisher(specifically, Dokebi Bride and Land of Silver Rain) so I'll likely check that out.

I think they should make one together. They could play brothers.

Oooh, found this Yi San mv:

I can't watch 1 pound no fukuin without laughing at the idea of Kame having "over eating problems" w.t.f

That makes me laugh so much. The guy weights 115 pounds at the most..what guy weighs that much?!

Ahhh...so funny(sorry about my ramble..I just find it funny)

Exactly. I mean, I could probably break him in half. He is not someone who needs to diet!

This looks incredibly appealing. I guess it's licensed? Doesn't seem to be up for DL subbed. Or maybe, the Korean version will be when it's finished? There are torrents for the first 4 eps.

One Pound is hilarious and worth watching for Kame's faces if nothing else. It starts getting interesting story wise now with the choices the characters are faced with (I've watched up until ep 5) but the main USP still remains the silliness of it all and I love it. I don't think the quality has changed from ep 1 FWIW, the ratings maybe reflects the KAT-TUN fangirls who wanted to watch their idol stuff his face and were bored after they'd seen it a couple of times.

It might be licensed, no idea.

1pound sounds funny but you know...I dunno, it just sort of seems repetitive, as an idea, to me...

I really like One Pound Gospel, and even though it's a little repetitive, I don't care, because it's not all comedy. Or at least, in my eyes. Sure, there are the parts that make you ROFLMAO, but there were also parts that could pull at your heart strings. [Yes, I've cried while watching this. v_v]

I'm such a sucker for sap, and I dunno, this is a drama where I pretty much like all of the characters. They're all funny or stupid or plain ridiculous, but they're them. Plus I like how one of Kosaku's fellow boxers usually plays a gangster in other dramas, but in this one, he's funny. XD;;

I'm surprised by the ratings though. I thought it'd be pretty high, seeing as it's a Johnny's drama after all. I wouldn't be surprised if it declined because fangirls were mad at how much attention their Kame was giving to Kuroki Meisa's character. XD;; Lol.
