This one is from my favorite book, period: Dorothy Dunnett's "Checkmate," which is the sixth and final volume in the Lymond chronicles and is, bar none, the most romantic book I've ever read ( Read more... )

I really have to reread the Lymond series soon - well, once I get them back from yavannie77.

I'm just crusing through via sabaceanbabe's journal (and I've seen you elsewhere), and I glanced through your userinfo. It seems like we definitely have some common interests...BSG, Firefly, Sci Fi, to name a few. Also, I'm U.S.-born of south-asian descent and know very little about Bollywood cinema (I know the conventions of BW film, and have seen a few, and I know a little about the industry), so it is very interesting to me that you are so into it.

Anyway, the real reason I stopped in, besides to ask if you mind that I friend you, is: are you in the DC area (I am, too)? And yes, I agree, when Serenity comes to DC, I (and my pals) are all hoping quite desperately that it will be at the Uptown. God, I love that place. I would hate to see it elsewhere.

I would love to be friended :) I'll friend you back.

Yes, I live in DC and am crossing fingers, toes, and eyes for it to be at the Uptown. That's where I saw Revenge of the Sith, and the Trilogy Tuesday with LOTR and this would just make it perfect to have it at the Uptown, biggest screen in town and all. And if they have a midnight showing? Guh.

As to Bollywood, I am originally from USSR, and so I knew about the movies, but I cought some on TCM and was hooked. They satisfy my melodrama craving.

Ahh, the Uptown is wonderful, no? I've seen all six Star Wars there, The Matrix, All of the LOTR (including the Extended Editions for FotR & TT), among others.

And Farscape! You're in to Farscape, too...

Anyway, where do you go to see Bollywood films around here? I didn't know they showed in theaters. I know that most Indian groceries rent DVDs, but that's it. I have no contact with the south asian community so I just don't know these things.

*is jealous*

And yeah, I adore Farscape as well. My favorite show, hands down.

There is a BW theater in Falls Church (go to http://www.nowrunning.com to USA, then VA and it will give you the addy). There is also one in MD, suburb starting with L whose name escapes me.
