Last weekend, me, darkkof, aimo, onion_sama, milxart, Popia, Gen, Bokson... (lists goes on) attended the second Malaysian 24 Hours Comics Day organised by Cedko. We started off at exactly 12 noon on Saturday and supposed to finish our comic on the same time of the next day. I haven't been drawing much prior to that weekend (and already behind schedule for a bunch of Spiffy ( Read more... )

I think Life experience isn't really a cheat, since it does take some effort to actually fit that into 24 pages without going too few pages... I mean, come on, sometimes, life experience comics are something they just wanna do and it might have a good message they wanna convey... I think you can strike that out of the "bad cheats" thing...

And yes, I never said I didn't cheat, I so totally did ^o^

Ahaha... I can't say cheating is bad, because I cheated, and yeah, perceptions what IS and ISN'T cheating will ultimately differ from person to person.

I'm so totally gonna use rolling start and small paper if enter next year though, because I'm really displeased with the art I did this year.

Haha, awesome comic DJ!
Much better than my comics. At least it makes much more sense.

I talked to Cedric Gan after the event ended about me 'cheating' by using giant panels and lack of backgrounds (and if you consider this cheating, using a Revoltech toy figure for reference), and he told me "I see that as strategy!".

Due to the lack of sleep at that time, I forgot what Gan said specifically, but that's the gist of it.

Heh, I've already said to some friends that I'm gonna cheat with a figurine anyway. Hence, I sorta admit it. Muahahaha... *ahem*. But considering that we had to do the comics in 24 hours, we were allowed to cheat... to a certain extent.

I actually use the toy to draw just action scenes for both the girl and the aforementioned giant dude. Anything else I just get creative. Only God knows what I do with that toy and the other toy that I bought in my room... at home... :p

Lol. A couple of hours before the clock signals the end of a great challenge, I got really lazy and sleepy, so my comic slacked in the quality department.

Nope cheating is cheating. Especially when you use a Revoltech toy to draw a.... giant dude? How did that happen? :O

No one who cheats will admit it. We're being creative. But remember what Scotty said about this thing; it's more about how much you can put into a page rather than the possibility of finishing it. I actually had 1 hour in hand to do the backgrounds and fixes, but my creative section of my noggins already said sayonara by the time I got back from breakfast, so all I could do was erase the pencils. Wow, that is so cool! Amazing that you were able to pull all of that together in 24 hours~ Especially with those rules on top of you, the end result was surprisingly... uh, how should I put it? Well, it looked well-though out! If I had to do that, I would have FAILED XD

Actually, I really could have used something like that the day I overdosed on Sudafed and ended up wide awake until 5 in the morning. It really looks like a good deal of fun if it also didn't look time consuming ^^;
