He didn't like being faced with the reality of the situation, but she'd made it impossible to ignore.THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS. Was what was missing for John... he needed honest, no bullshit conversation that would turn him from his wants to his realities. And interestingly enough, this applies to Cynthia as well. BUT, as we've talked of before, John doesn't share enough with his wife, and she's happy when he's calm. Neither of them take the time to talk to each other, nor share anything of meaning when they do. Too young again, I guess. Comfort is one thing, asking why the other is upset in the first place is another. (John wouldn't confess, of course, but stress is stress.I'm shutting it now
( ... )
They were both crippled No truer statement in all of the fanfic written in this fandom, really. Not to mention a poignant and beautifully written sentence. They both are emotional wrecks and unable to reach their full emotional range in various situations. I don't however like that Charlie's so down on herself, when John's as messed up if not much more so. I actually think much more messed up. But all the same, she's a young woman in the 60s, she has had the affections of two well known men and rejected them both. She'd be conditioned by society a fair bit to think it's her fault when it's not. So realistic points for that
( ... )
Where do I come up with this stuff? I don't know. Okay, I do know. It made sense to be that Charlie would see themselves as both being crippled. She knows that she can be too hard. She sees that John is giving too much, far too opinion in her opinion. They are both wrecks in their own ways, and because of that this relationship had no chance of succeed. Even if John weren't married. They just can't be what the other wants/needs. It couldn't work

Oh my! You know, I really od love it when a story is wrapped up so well. It defies expectations, (I thought Charlie would capitulate when she allowed John into her room. Silly me! I should have realized she was setting him up for a major dose of reality, albeit rather sardonically - LOL! It's telling that rather than panic, John knew instantly that she was having him on when she suggested that, of course, he'd be leaving his wife to be with her. This scene was sheer perfection
( ... )
Well, not even for a moment was I going to have Charlie sleep with John. Even though I set it up for her to be at her lowest point in this trip. I still felt it would've been out of character for her to fall into bed with him, and a 'win' for John, that he simply didn't earn or deserve. I did have fun with this scene though. Charlie proposing the realities of the situation, and John knowing that ultimately she's having him on

Thanks for linking me to the next installment! I look forward to checking it out!
Just to be clear, I didn't genuinely start to dislike Charlie until the last couple chapters when I realized things weren't going to go anywhere for either Beatle. Annette's line about how John's honesty must have been for a reason stuck with me and I was wondering if that would be touched upon again later. I guess I was just disappointed when Charlie didn't come full circle on that thought.
All in all, though, this was quite a read! A great introduction to the world of Beatles fanfiction for me. Hope to see more from you soon! :)

Yeah, I do understand that when it comes to a triangle, readers want to see some sort of resolution, and that involves two of the characters in the triangle pairing off. I can see why it'd be disappointing for readers that in the end, Charlie doesn't 'choose' anyone. I'm of the mind that she did in fact choose, but it was herself.
Annette was onto something there, but Charlie simply didn't want to hear it or consider that her friend had a point. John didn't have to tell Charlie. He could've allowed her to find out on her own, but he told her. I don't believe it was only to hurt her either. It wasn't touched upon in this story, but it's always possible that this could come back up again in another one.
Some other Beatles fan fiction you might want to check out. It isn't my stuff, but she's my favorite Beatles fan fiction writer out there: http://www.dasliebchenkind.com Worth checking out.
