Today was a good day, I had a fabulous lunch of PIE and caught up with people, ingested far too much dessert and then was able to say at the end of the day that I had seen the comic phenomenon that was The Watchmen--

Dr. Manhattan threesome was awesome; as if you'd be walking out on that, srsly...
Strictly speaking, the actual plot of Watchmen is a McGuffin; you're supposed to be looking at the DEEP TEXTUAL SYMBOLISM or... something. I dunno. Alan Moore said so.

Rorschach wasn't the story's conscience, but he *had* a conscience that didn't weary as much as saving children from a burning building and celebrating with a romp on the floatmobile's console. A lot of the time I didn't know why the Silk Spectre or Owl Man were on screen, why was I supposed to be watching them and nothing they did could make me care about their greater purpose. At least I knew that Rorschach was trying to uncover the plot of why Watchmen were being murdered.
And ultimately I don't SSII and Owl achieved came to a purposeful fruition. If the Silk Spectre hadn't brought Dr Manhattan back, Ozymandius still could have killed them all to keep them from telling the world of his master plans. I think there was so much in this film that didn't need to be there.

Rapist-huh, seriously? I could probably see past everything else in that list. So the Rosenebsdbddeburgh guy was a goodie? It seems to me that the director didn't learn much from his last film. A narrator would have been perfect for this film. I'll wait for the dvd.

Rorschach was the narrator, though I think the best narration was in the opening credits where a wordless montage did all the work. The whole movie should have been told like that!
