59 Days To Go!

Aug 21, 2008 08:28

I've gotten better at avoiding sugary treats this past week. At the last doctor's appointment I was told I had gained too much, but overall, it hasn't been that bad. I started at 175 and was at 203 at my 30 week appointment. So HAH! I think the stupid midwife-that-I-don't-like at my doctor's practice doesn't think of the overall picture, just " ( Read more... )

There was an article in last week's New Times, talking to someone in Admissions at Cal Poly, giving advice on how to apply. Don't know if you saw that, but I thought I'd let you know. :)

Thank you! I'm excited to see how well the birth itself goes.

If there is anything I've learned from my bijillion pregnant friends & family member is:
If you have even a slight issue with your doctor or midwife or whoever, get a new one. And don't wait. Because it's not worth it and you'll be sorry when it gets to the day and you're wanting to kill that person.

Yes, I have heard that as well. I like the other midwives, so I'm thinking that since we'll be going in every two weeks I'm going to be able to see how they really are and then maybe say what my preference is. I don't want to give up on this place yet, because I've liked going there for all the years I've been going for regular care.

If the other ones end up making me mad, we'll have to change.

I'm sure that someone from the same place will have a personality that's inline with yours, so even if she has different ideas about your preferences, it will be a less grating experience.

You know, I thought about it a lot more after these messages, and decided I didn't want to dread the upcoming appointment, so I called and canceled it. Then, I looked in www.slocountymommies.com and saw that the doctor that Judy and Matt had recommended came highly recommended on there as well, so I called them and made an appointment for September 2! Thank you for your input, it really inspired me to make a change!

I didn't feel any Braxton-Hicks with #1. After feeling them with number two, be glad that you can't! They're scary and painful.

As far as birth plans go, be sure to put everything in there, but try to remember that it's just a guide for the delivery team. Things will probably not go exactly according to plan. As one nurse told me, "doesn't matter how you get there, just as long as everyone gets to go home with a baby." That being said, if you have dula your chances of things going the way you'd like them to are much higher.
