I know, but my friend Ranger Riley brought his last year and they had a terrible dust storm that lasted 3 days!!!

I should ask him about how he protected his 'puter.

I know, it would totally be lame.

The teacher says it can be stored on a flash drive....

Yeah, maybe I'll just print out the pages I need to read that week. It's supposed to be a printable .pdf.

I brought a computer one year and used it all of three times. It got my email address to a guy who'd taken some cool pictures of me, got a haiku to the fandango list, then frustrated me as the newly built camps between me and the AP brought the path loss above what my card could overcome. While not in use it lived in a closed tupperwear box.

Sure it was something to try while all sealed up against the dust storm but I expect I'd have had more fun donning goggles and dancing. Cheap pens and a little spiral-bound notepad are more appropriate for messaging and notes to myself.

We only take older "disposable" laptops to dusty field locations... they have about a 10-20% failure rate for a 2-week exposure.

Thank you! It sounds like you have lots of experience with that type of thing, so it's good to get your input.
