A Day No Pigs Would Die was never one of my favorite books. It was somewhat enjoyable, and I think if I read it now I might change my opinion of it. But I read it during junior high as required reading, and I was put off by some of the descriptions used in the book of various situations. I think that my feelings towards those situations overshadowed my opinion of the book as a whole. I probably would wait until I'd read all the other books on my "to-read" list before I'd get to this one.
