I was recently made aware of a post by a rather fantastic blogger about the Gordian Knot of class issues and insecurity and prejudice so tightly tied around the American Dream, called "poor people aren't supposed to want nice things". This... yeah. matters. a lot. I'm presently doing a lot of that with things like using grant money for college studies on tools for college studies when I'm not paying regular rent somewhere like a Proper Upstanding Solitary Citizen Who Relies On No-one.

Yeah. I have few friends without at least some of these issues. In fact, I'd wager bonding with them over similar life experiences is us becoming friends *over* these issues. At least we all seem pretty sure one another are allowed to have Nice Things, and thereby egg one another on to better. And with that, good luck ;)
