Gosh, so tired. Just gotta get this off my chest, then I need a nap!

Today began horribly but ended with a partial triumph!

Yesterday, I discovered two very AUGH-worthy things re my university classes.
My mistake and their rescheduling equals panic )

meta, stress, good days, ich bin ein exchange student, fandom: clamp, academia, manga

What about Wish? Kohaku doesn't (and maybe can't) die, but it's probably as close as s/he can get. The threat might not be explicitly in there, but since Kohaku defies God and loves a mortal more than God, dying for it should definitely be in the realm of possibility (in the Judeo-Christian-Islamic reader's mind, if not in the actual story).

I was thinking of Wish too! I might make a meta-post about in on LJ, but the problem when it comes to actually writing an essay for university, is that I have a limited number of pages - the material is already pretty big, so I'd have to strictly cut it down to successful suicides (in the sense that they end with death). But iirc, there are times in both Wish, xxxHolic, RG Veda (and probably other places) where there are also suicide attempts, that follow the same pattern

It might be good to have some test cases like those just to justify why the theme is important to/prevalent in CLAMP and why you had to scale it down. And if you're doing it by gender, English language Wish would be a freaking nightmare to deal with in detail.

Hmm, I think that academic essays might follow a different layout in Sweden and the US (I assume that's where you're at?). I must have a "why did I chose to do this and what am I aware that I have left out" part no matter what topic I pick. There, I would absolutely include some mentions of near-suicides and non-willing death as sacrifice themes, but I wouldn't go into them very closely :)
