I am sad to say that I also watched those shows last night. Asta made me! That's all I got.

Also? I totally love Dead Like Me and I mostly loved DA, but in a "this is not good, but I love the action-y stuff" kind of way. Y'know, as someone who watches SG-1 *and* Atlantis, you should have no problem with the more sketchy elements of DA. ;-)

But what are your thoughts on the hair?

I have totally lost all credibility, haven't I? But they're fun! They're like popcorn! And asta77 has come over to the dark side.

Then again, I'll buy pretty much anything Claudia Black is selling. In fact, I have an embarrassing suspicion that if Claudia Black set fire to a litter of puppies right in front of me, I'd mostly just be amazed by the depth and tension she brought to the act of striking the match, and admire how the light from the burning puppies brought out the interesting planes of her face.

Oh yes!!!

I think Vala alone will make me a squeeing fangirl about the entire season (although you never know, the writers could break me by sucking just that badly). And on a meta level, I think that Browder and Black both bring an acting intensity that the show hadn't seen much before, because they'd gotten into a routine, and I'm hoping that the new characters and relationship matrices give the writers new inspiration.

I think it would have to be bad indeed, because they've certainly already tried: what was the ep at the end of last season that was basically Vala giving exposition for the entire episode? That's the one that convinced me that I'd listen to CB read the phone book and squee like an idiot. ;)

Good point! That was absolutely riveting exposition.

Please share screencaps. This sounds like an awesome showcase for her talents. :-)

Vala and Daniel make for a snarky but effective team. At least up until the point where Vala's husband catches them.

You know, those horns go so well with his mullet...

Did I miss the episode where Caldwell decided to go along with whatever crazy-ass plan Elizabeth Weir comes up with no matter what? She really got a lot of mileage out of that goa'uld incident.

I figured that, with Sheppard missing and presumed dead, he's just all happy at the prospect of taking command of Atlantis and the endorphins are making him extra-pliable.

I'm very confused about the timing of the Wraith incursion versus the Ori invasion. That was bugging me too. I ( ... )

Hee. Poor Tommin never knew what hit him, literally and figuratively, with Vala. Although I thought it was more of a bowl cut...

That was bugging me too. I think they finally mentioned the issue of the Ori battle fleet in the closing minutes of the Atlantis episode, but at that point I'd been wondering about it for the better part of two hours.

At some point, I think they mentioned that Earth's two fighting ships were off fighting the Ori. The timing is really unclear, though, and that's a problem with two shows that have so many ties and crossovers. They're trying to have it both ways--independent storylines and crossovers--and it's turning out kind of wierd.

But just imagine the combination of Ronon's brains and Rodney's indomitable fighting spirit. That wouldn't work out nearly as well.

I'm picturing them crouching behind a potted plant that is way too small to hide them now...

Technically true, but it doesn't sound as funny as "mullet." :-)

Exactly! I guess it's lucky they opted for a different division of labor.

I've only seen SG-1 so far of the two, and I actually enjoyed it. In very large part to Claudia Black, whom I join you in fangirling unconditionally. Plus, she did get the best line of the night about her stepmother. Hee.

I can also recommend Dead Like Me. Not actiony, of course, but a good character drama. I found it very slow to get started, but once it got rolling (at least in Season 1; still haven't seen S2 yet), it was excellent.

It looks like SciFi is running Dark Angel and Dead Like Me reruns over the summer too.

I didn't know that! I've never seen DLM, but I've always wanted to, so that's exciting!

I've heard really good things, so I think I'm going to watch it too. We can be TV twins! Since I think everybody else in the known universe has already seen it.
