there is a persistent part of me-the part that can never fail to spin gold into straw-that still feels like I have somehow conned everybody in this company into believing I somehow know what I'm doing, and that eventually they're going to figure out the truthI feel exactly the same way most of the time. I agree with you about Keckler's recap. I couldn't pinpoint exactly why I was unhappy with it, but it didn't satisfy me. And I really liked her recaps of Enterprise.
I was thinking aloud to brynnmck and I think Keckler's targeting was all off--there are ways of pointing out ironies and quirks that could have been funny, but she went for the straight snark in an episode that was really emotionally difficult and meaningful, and it just felt completely off.
Actual 9th season SG-1 I found much more palatable than this show on its own. I also watched the King episode and liked it a bit better. I thought Wayne Brady had been on the show for awhile, I didn't realize he was a one-off? I guess? I don't know.I'm finding Season 8 to be... kind of spotty, and a little tired, and I do think the new characters in Season 9 gave the writing a shot in the arm (and allowed them to reestablish a strong team dynamic, which really suffered from RDA's minimized role). And I also get that feeling of "oh no they're going to come to their senses eventually!". But maybe mine is fueled by working on a grant-funded project and knowing it's got to end eventually. ;)
