This is indeed a great episode, and having just recently re-watched it with other scapers in my area, it was a good one for showing how the show continually leads you down a path where you think you know where you are going, but you end up in a new and not always comfortable place. We did watch it with the commentary, and I enjoyed Ben indicating that in the scene where Aeryn confronts Pilot the second time, why is John even there. Many times you don't here an actor ask if they should be on camera.

The whole part of Zhaan being so put out with Aeryn, when as Aeryn says, "oh but cutting an arm off is ok as it can grow back?" (or something similar to that) its so real! People can be both fickle and duplicitous in dealing with others. Its a nice reminder of how needs to keep an eye on one's self and make sure your behavior matches what you are preaching.

That's a very good way of putting it.

I also appreciated that about the commentary, that Browder recognized that he really had no place in that scene (though it had never occurred to me before, so I don't think he's too awkwardly wedged in there).

You've said it all so well, all I can do is nod my head and say, "Uh-huh, uh-huh."

And, of course, this is the ep that gave us the silent tag of volumes unspoken.

The ending is so remarkable--so much complex emotion conveyed completely without dialogue. And it rings very true that the closest John can come to asking Aeryn about his feelings for her, and the closest she can come to answering, is to make that comparison--and still, she can't quite bring herself to say anything.

Oh. Oh. Oh.

PS - I forget how completely and utterly dumbfounded I was at Aeryn sobbing on the hangar bay floor. Completely stupefied. And she let John comfort her, after a token effort at rebuff. sigh. Such talented actors.
