The state of my nation

The wedding shower was a big success, as long as you ignore the elder relatives' comments that it "sure was different!", which I am. We did an Asian theme, so one of the bridesmaids organized a selection of exotic teas (iced because it was freaking hot on Saturday), and I did Asian-themed appetizers, and another bridesmaid made beautiful origami ( Read more... )

Your appetizer list makes me want to kidnap you and chain you up in my kitchen. (: I'm a good cook, but wow.

My TiVo did that to me when I first got it. At first it was great (old Star Trek episodes! Xena! Quantum Leap! and it's how I got into B5, too), but then it got scary pretty fast ("a SciFi original movie" are words that strike fear into my heart). Eventually I turned off Suggestions, and now I'm watching less TV and enjoying what I do watch a lot more.

Can't wait to see you tonight! ::cracks knuckles:: Prepare for further indoctrination education.

You're not the only one!

I'll probably end up turning off suggestions too, because I just don't watch that much TV, and I don't have to watch more--I'm already maintaining 20,000 fandoms! But for now, I'm okay with just deleting stuff and seeing what else it comes up with for me.

Last night was so much fun! After the end of the summer madness has settled, I look forward to doing it again.

Well, I can agree with the bad since TiVO is suggesting season 5 Andromeda (very dreadful- the best of Andromeda is from the first two seasons and some episodes of season 3 written by the orignal staff writers who were still around after staff shake-ups during adn after season 2).

I don't know the nuances of Andromeda's quality ups-and-downs over the year, but what I've seen I've thought was pretty terrible, so that was an easy delete.

DVD recorder? Have I told you lately that I love you?

Heh! Before you get too excited, it's basically a VCR that records DVDs instead of tapes, and since the TiVO output is analog, it doesn't produce quite the sharp, crisp quality of a professionally authored DVD that's taken from source. But it does let me create basic chapters and (I think) title and chapter menus, and is generally pretty neat, and I can record shows off TiVO, so yay!

Firstly, you make me laugh. Case in point:

y TiVO seems to think I'm an incredibly loserish fifteen year old boy, judging by the suggestions it's chosen to record for me. The good: Soylent Green. The bad: Andromeda. The ugly: Godzilla (the Matthew Broderick travesty). I guess this is what happens when your season passes revolve around SciFi Friday.

Secondly, omg, next time I come visit, you will cook for me, yes? Say yes. My God, say yes. I need something hopeful to get me through these dark, spoiler-ridden times. Keep me away from the VM spoiler forum at TwoP. It's calling me and its voice is strong. :-)

I will totally cook for you next time you visit. ::baits trap::

And for the love of all that is holy, stay away from the TWoP forums! I'm sure they haven't turned on Rob Thomas yet, but it's only a matter of time, and nothing can kill enjoyment of a show more than a TWoP bitterfest.

Oh, baby, you don't have to bait me. I absolutely cannot wait to hang out with you again. You're just plain ol' awesome.

And also right about the TWoP forums. I have backed away and am currently hiding in the world known as El Jay. No more TWoP for me. I will be strong. ::has quite vivid memories of when the world turned on Joss::

Yay! You did the meme! :) And I still think your user name is lovely and clever!

The wedding shower sounds wonderful and nicely different - why people suddenly get a thing for lilac or ruffles when they get married is beyond me.

I'm very glad you like it.

And the shower really was a nice event. Some of the bride's elderly relatives, as I mentioned, were a bit surprised, but the bride herself thought it was wonderful--and that's the point, isn't it?
