Links and memes and crack!fic

Every fandom needs a gender-reversing pirate AU. It's, like, a law or something. For Battlestar Galactica, queenofthorns and meyerlemon have stepped up to the plate and it is OMG SO WRONG. I am speechless with speechlessness, and also giggling like crazy. I think the thing that kills me the most is their loving attention to period detail.

OMG I resent the implication I have a dirty mind!!!!

::runs to see if it's a naughty bit::

Wow. That's cool - but it looks painful. Is it painful? I don't even wear earrings, so I salute your bravery. When I saw there was an anti-tragus, I REALLY thought it was a naughty bit, that parents had to rally against even. Hee.

Something about me? I have no obvious bad habits. I don't smoke, drink very little, don't drink coffee or pop to speak of, eat pretty well, exercise some, don't take drugs, don't engage in dangerous hobbies. Some would say I'm...perfect. ROFL!

It's just a thick wing of cartilage, so it was very painful to get done (and it must be done by a professional with a needle--this is not a mall store piercing gun type of job) and was sore for several weeks afterwards, but once it healed it was fine. And when you go to a professional piercer, they're usually incredibly interesting people, so you're more focused on the conversation than on the burning pain.

I have this sinking feeling that most of my college days stories would make your hair curl.

Oh, Billyria and his loud frocks. ::weeps with laughter::

I can't wait until someone has the vapors, or Adama shows up in person.

::tries to picture EJO as a Regency-era woman::

::fails::

I'm suddenly picturing Adama showing up with a heaving bosom and an eyepatch and then having the vapors. But somehow, (s)he still looks exactly like EJO. ::scrubs brain::

In response to your "little something": ouch.

My own "little something": I still play with my food, I just don't do it when anyone's watching.

Heh. Ironically, I think yours probably healed much faster, but mine is stealthier.

Hee - in the same piercing vein, I had the catiledge in both of my upper ears pierced in college and have never taken the rings out. It makes me feel like a pampered Siamese cat:)

I'm far too much of a wuss to have my tragus pierced.

The piercing itself was painful in the way piercings are, but what surprised me most was that it was sore for like a month.

Yeah, the cartiledge hurt less than the lobes, but they were sore forever!

Browder and Black are on Stargate? I'd might watch it then, no matter how disorienting it might be.

Something: I have as many lps and cds as I could find of an English band singer from the 1930s called Al Bowlly.

Ben Browder is joining the regular cast for all of Season 9. Claudia Black is going to be in the first five episodes. And I'm going to watch it, even though I've never been able to get into Stargate before, because I love them.

What is it about Al Bowlly that sparks your interest?

I've watched the Stargate movie a couple of time, it's just goofy fun. But the tv series does nothing for me. I wonder what kind of accent Claudia Black will use.

I've always liked Big Band music. There was a radio station that used to carry it, long gone. I used to detest Bowlly, a tenor with a sweet voice. But it was like the movies, I hated him and then I fell in love. They still remember him in the UK and I was able to buy tapes and then cds of him. ::she hums "Hang Out the Stars in Indiana" and "My Canary Has Circles Under His Eyes"::

She did a guest appearance in the last season of Stargate too, one that introduced the character she'll be playing this season. Her accent is pretty much the same, but the character is definitely not Aeryn.
