Hot town, summer in the city

Jun 26, 2005 10:56

Summer has arrived in San Francisco, which means that it's really cold and foggy. D. and I took the dog to the beach yesterday; we wore heavy jackets and sweaters and didn't get too cold, and the dog played fetch with all and sundry. D. takes him down there when he surfs and lets him run the beach, and the dog has made lots of friends who are ( Read more... )

A, your tags make me laugh!

Also, I'm starting BSG again this week. Kimmie can catch up with me later. That's what she gets for having a new boyfriend and precious little time for moi. :p

Your icon makes me laugh! That's hilarious.

I'm glad you're starting BSG again, because the season premiere's in 19 days! And yes, I am totally counting.

Why, thank you. I kinda love it.

And I know! That's why I'm starting without her. :-)

I've made my piece with the fact that the characters will be totally different, so I'm not expecting any kind of similar interaction. Also, I find the Daniel/Vala dynamic really hilarious--she flummoxes him so badly! But that one picture is funny, because they just have so much chemistry no matter what.

I'm so excited that you're writing again! And of course I'd be delighted to help any way I can.

Or perhaps, instead of stopping buying books, I need to buy bookshelves.

Hee, you sound like me! All kidding aside, I now try to only buy books if they're ones that I think I'm going to read more than once. Otherwise, they just end up collecting dust and taking up space.

This resolution is hard to keep, though, because I love books. I find it almost impossible to walk into a bookstore without emerging practically staggering under the weight of my purchases. So, I make sure to hit the library instead!

Oh, and if I do buy new books, I force myself to get rid of enough of my old books that there's enough room on the shelves for my latest acquisitions.

I've been better about buying books over the past couple of years--I tend only to buy them when I'm reasonably sure they'll be keepers, and in this case, two for $5 was not something I could turn down. But part of my problem is that I've never had enough bookshelves. It's amazing how hard it is to find real wood (as opposed to laminate) shelving units that will stand side-by-side in a row (i.e. don't have big, flaring bases and tops). I know exactly what I want, and I can't find it!

But, like you, I need to exercise some volume control or I'll be drowning in books.

Did Claudia piss off the wardrobe person on her first day or something? They've really put her in some ugly ass clothes.

I'm not getting a John Chrichton vibe either from what I've seen thus far. Ben doesn't have a huge body of work, but from the non-Farscape stuff I've seen I think he's more than a one trick pony.

Well, to be fair, it does look like the whole SG-1 team has to wear silly village wear, so she's not alone. And I thought the olive drab stuff was pretty flattering, as was the black leather pants and top. It's just the Mistress of Pain outfit and the doilies that really make me cringe. That's obviously T&A wear, but I somehow suspect her presence will overcome the cheesiness of the wardrobe.

I suspect you're right, and it's going to be interesting to see him in such a different role.
