Like riding a bicycle?

I feel like I am working two different full-time jobs at one company right now, with my projects (multiple). However, before Game of Thrones started airing, I subscribed to HBO, and that led to exploring HBO Go (they really need to rethink using a Flash platform, or at least trying to implement something that compresses and buffers video decently ( Read more... )

"... and then they tied the vampire to a lawn chair in their basement." Yeah, it doesn't make sense when you put it into words. (Also, the bodily fluids! But I think the comparison ends there.)

I am not exaggerating when I say that some days at work, Zooborns and the Daily Puppy are what get me through the day.

I'm really not enjoying the Jason storyline. If that were done to a dumb blonde female character, there'd be howls of protest, and it turns out it's not really any more fun watching it happen to a dumb blond man.

I am finding it pretty horrifying. I am hopeful that that's deliberate, because of the way it's been filmed, and because they didn't try to paper over what happened to either Tara or Lafayette. But since TV's track record with male rape isn't exactly great, we'll see.

All vampire stories deal with boundaries--between living and dead, human and inhuman, seduction and attack. It's all there in the invitation, which is such a prominent feature of the myth. But I feel like this season has really set out to push this theme.

You make such great points about all the different kinds of boundary breaking going on this season. I hadn't noticed any of that, though to be honest I usually imagine the writers sitting around having conversations like "What can we do to gross out our audience this season?" "I know! Let's tie Jason to a bed and have him be raped by a bunch of inbred hillbilly women!". I often feel like this show is far too in love with whatever grotesqueries it can muster up, at the expense of things like plots and themes and consistency. BUT, maybe I'm not giving them enough credit, because now that you've pointed it out, I can see that there are some thematic patterns at work here.

For the first time, I realized that Debbie Pelt is played by Brit Morgan, who was Lacey on The Middleman.OMG I ( ... )

I don't think that's wrong, either. I think a lot will depend on where they're going with the Jason storyline, which they seem to be treating as disturbing so far, but very well may blow off. It helps that I have a hard time taking Hotshot too seriously since it reads more as a broad metaphor to me, like so much in this show.

OMG I would never have recognized her!

Now I'm actually hoping to see more Debbie, because I love that actress.
