Third time's a charm

Nov 16, 2010 11:32

I finally finished the release that has been dragging on for a year and a half, and in the middle of all of that my parents visited, and also there were some appliance-related shenanigans that involved multiple delivery attempts and the partial dismantling of a deck. But I'm coming up for air at last, and last week I was in LA for my third ( Read more... )

Awww, Murphy! WHO'S A GOOD PUPPY. YOU ARE. YES YOU ARE. He's so gorgeous; I love his coloring.

And I'm glad you had a good time at the con(s)! I'm also glad to have my crush on Morena Baccarin reinforced. :)

I like the Pylea arc! I know, I know, I'm the only person IN THE WORLD who does, but I do. It's its own contained little story! I dig that!

He is a good puppy! At least for values of "good" that include nervous, willful, and crazed by skateboards, but basically super-sweet and friendly. I love his coloring too; pictures don't really do it justice.

Okay, WHY do you like the Pylea arc? I'm genuinely curious.

Honestly, it's been years since I saw the Pylea arc, and I'm pretty sure I only saw it once, so I don't really remember why I liked it, I just remember liking it and then being surprised that other people didn't. I think I'm just a sucker for mini-arcs, maybe? I'm not sure.

I discovered Saturday that the reason I was so sleepy Friday night was because I was actually getting sick. I think I dozed off for a few minutes at some point during the 2nd ep, but I'm not sure I feel inclined to rewatch again to see if I missed anything important.

HI MURPHY!

(The Greek restaurant delivers?! Good to know for future reference.)

Aw, I hope you're feeling better. And yeah, I don't think you missed much, if for no other reason than that it's an almost completely contained mini-arc.

That picture of Murphy taking himself for a walk is hilarious!

He is the goofiest dog that ever goofed. For a time, when we ran together, at the end of the run--when I was super-tired and slowing down--he used to grab his leash and try to get me to run faster. Showoff!

The Whedonverse con included a panel by three writers, Jane Espenson, Drew Greenberg, and Andrew Chambliss

Okay, I'm going to lose every bit of Whedonverse cred that I possess and ask who the heck is Andrew Chambliss?

The last time I tried to make it through S3 of Angel, which has been several years ago now, I gave up about half way through. I was defeated by Cordelia's increasing blandness, the cooing over the baby, and most of all, the evil, evil, c-word.

Avatar was...not good. I mean, I saw it in IMAX 3-D and it was very visually striking and sometimes beautiful and blah blah blah, but it was a terrible, terrible script.

Murphy taking himself for a walk is the most adorable thing I've seen all day!

You are not forfeiting much Whedonverse cred! I was confused too, especially since he was introduced as "Andres Chambliss." He was a writer on Dollhouse, and came in later. On the other hand, you're sacrificing a ton of Vampire Diaries cred, if there is such a thing, because he's a staff writer there.

But S3 is on the road to S4! And has individual good episodes! I am trying to psych myself up here.

Heee, fortunately, I do not claim to have any Vampire Diaries cred, so my reputation is safe!

S3 does have Wesley talking to the giant hamburger. That's always something to look forward to.

Was Juliet Landau or Julie Benz not available or something?

I have no idea, but some behind-the-scenes problem like that would certainly explain the WTF.

Angel is really, really uneven. I really, really liked Season 4 when it aired, though, especially the second half--I know some people aren't fans, but I admired the commitment to the apocalypse. It will be interesting to see how it holds up; at the time, I didn't have much of an opinion on Cordelia.
