I have Things to Say about the end of Babylon 5 Season 4 and all of Deadwood Season 1. In the case of Deadwood, they can be summed up by: SQUEEEEEEEEE + *flappy hands*. But instead, I have been sucked into something that's just the wrong combination of mind-numbing tedium and important detail at work, and have misplaced my ability to write about ( Read more... )

Oh my god your lunch looks fabulous. *extreme lunch envy* (I had an avocado-and-tomato sandwich on spelt bread. It was yummy, but. Hmmm.) Also fabulous: Aldis Hodge and Beth Reisgraf. EEEE. I saw a Leverage commercial the other night and I am SO EXCITED!

San Francisco also sounds like an intriguing place... perhaps I should check it out sometime? (And perhaps make actual plans? I'M SO SORRY, I'll talk to J. ASAP. But would Sunday brunch/lunch work for you, maybe? I mean, I hope that's not the only time I get to see you, but.)

I'm planning to be pretty open that weekend, because (a) I am so tired right now that I just almost fell asleep WHILE I WAS GETTING MY EYEBROWS WAXED, so clearly it's time for some recharging, and (b) I need some time to search under the couch cushions for my writing mojo. So yes, I could definitely do brunch Sunday (and maybe we could see if cofax7 could too? I know she'd love to meet you). And, obviously, I think you should spend 100% of your visit in this fantastic city, but rumor has it that there's an entire area around this here bay. Or so they say.

DUDE. That has to be some sort of record. Impressive! Well, I hope you can get some rest, then. And while you're looking for your writing mojo, please keep an eye out for mine? Heh. But brunch on Sunday would be fabulous, and I'd love to meet cofax7 and see laurashapiro, too, if she can make it... I'll double-check with J to make sure it doesn't interfere with any of their plans, but I strongly suspect there aren't any plans at this point, so. Let's pencil that in, if it works for you!

I don't know if "impressive" is the word I'd use, but yes. Apparently being horizontal on a flat surface after lunch totally overrode the sensation of having hair ripped out of my forehead.

I would really love to show you around for any part of the rest of the weekend when you're free, too. (Also J!) So, just let me know.

Tijgerbrood! AWESOME. I used visit the Netherlands frequently and it's one of the things I loved madly (along with omg so fabulous Indonesian and Indonesian-Chinese fast food). I had no idea it was available in SF!

I'm so used to seeing it as a standard choice anywhere that makes sandwiches with rolls, or sells sandwich rolls, that I was stunned it's not available anywhere else! It seems a shame; it's the perfect thing for a sandwich.

(I swear, I never ate desserts before I started running regularly. All of a sudden, I have a sweet tooth again!)

::makes note to bake when you visit::

You are STILL exhausted? That sucks. I do hope you get some well deserved rest soon.

No, I'm exhausted again. I think there's a difference? I didn't get to sleep until 1 last night, and would have been jolted out of slumber by the BEEP BEEP BEEP at 7 this morning if I hadn't woken up at 6 and been unable to go back to sleep, so instead I listened to it while I drank my coffee.

My sympathy on the construction noises. That kind of thing drives me insane.

And I assure you that "Deadwood" remains hand flappy throughout the series. 8 ]

Thanks. At least they didn't start jackhammering until sometime in the afternoon yesterday...

I am so excited by that. I've heard from so many people that it just keeps hitting it out of the park throughout, and it is one of the most well-constructed shows I have ever had the pleasure to watch. I'm making myself ration the remaining episodes.

Mmmm your lunch looks delicious; definitely bookmarking to try myself. Also, I totally want some of those Dutch Crunch rolls now. :D

So the house that's under construction on your block--how do they get inside the house?? The steps are gone, and the front is all dug up. Or is it vacant?

Also bookmarking the technical tourist page; lots of good stuff there for future reference.

and HI!!

Oh, no, it's not only vacant but completely gutted on the inside. In fact, at this point--although I don't think you can see it in that picture--significant parts of the back wall are ripped out and you can see right through it. It was a rental before it was sold, and needed a lot of work; for people with a lot of money, "a lot of work" translates into scraping out the insides and redoing the thing entirely.

Also, HI! Have you posted about your trip? I need to remember to check out your other journal.

RE trip report--I only just posted part 1 tonight (on both LJs); I got all my photos up and labeled last week, but I'm very slow at typing up the narrative!
