I've been watching B5 for the first time with friends and posting as I go (although I'm a little behind at this point...)
The episode with the reporter was another episode, but it's a good example of the way the show handles that kind of propaganda--I think it's very realistic, and it's one of my favorite things about the show. I also liked the way Zack Allen joined the Night Watch because he wanted to do the right thing, and got sucked in further and further even as he got more uncomfortable with what they were doing.
I never, never thought I could forgive Londo for conspiring with the shadows, and I'm still not sure I have, but it's wonderful how we've seen him suffer for it, and seen others suffer because of his choices, and know he lost a part of himself.
I finished it a while back. Have you seen the B5 rewatch community: http://community.livejournal.com/b5_revisited/ Right now they are up to episode 1x19, so very early on in the rewatch, but it still looks interesting.
Yeah, I read back through your entries and found your entry for that episode, lol. Zack is another good example of how they show that even good people can be fooled, but maybe only for as long as they will let themselves be. I love that they have a continuous commentary on personal responsibility; you don't see that too often.
I feel the same about Londo. I went from loving to hate him to actually understanding why he did what he did, feeling sorry for him, and having some respect for how he does try to fix it in his own way. He's a deeply flawed character, but they allow him some measure of redemption in a way that felt right for me. I don't think that spoils anything to come, but I'll be quiet now ;)
