I was pleasantly surprised by Leverage. I ended up DVR'ing it on a whim after seeing a commercial for it. I'm terrible when it comes to actually watching tv shows when they air - I usually get them on DVD a year or two after they start airing. I haven't watched last night's episode, but I did enjoy the pilot. Like you said, it was smart, and I liked how they showed rather than told us about the characters' past. I was also happy to see faces I recognized: the chick who played Sophie is from Coupling, and the blond guy is from Angel. I'm hoping that it continues to be a fun and interesting show. I usually don't go for these type of dramas.

Yes, there was much showing; it managed to avoid the exposition overload of so many pilots. And it's fun to see Christian Kane on TV again.

Without giving anything away, I felt the second episode of Leverage was less successful than the pilot. Again, there were some good character moments and we learn a smidge more about them all, but the writers also have to keep an eye on the main plot which I felt fell apart at the end. But I'm willing to give them time to work out the kinks.

I suppose it would be too much to hope for two strong episodes in a row of a new show, eh? Unless there's a massive nosedive in quality, though, I'm interested enough to stick with it through some kink-working-out.

He had her, but he had to go that extra mile. Oh Dwight.

I think that's part of what killed me about that storyline. I've really not been enjoying the Dwangelandy story in general, because I feel so for Andy and I hate that he's being led on in such a way. The only way this story can be resolved where I'd be okay with it is if Andy does the dumping, BUT without him knowing about Angela cheating on him.

But yeah, back to Dwight, all the progress Dwight made up until that point just got squished completely. Now he's not only the guy who killed her cat, but also the guy who tricked her into marrying him. Granted, if anyone is for Dwight, it's Angela, but that is pushing it. I just feel so let down by that because I feel like the writers have really got themselves in a corner at this point.

So, again, my solution is for Andy to dump Angela, move in with Oscar(for whatever reason), and they can totally do The Odd Couple. Think of how much fun Andy would have humming that song. See? All fixed :P

I think I have a little less sympathy for Andy, just because I regard him as so willfully ignorant. I feel bad for him, but also like he's ignoring some pretty major warning signs. I would like it if he's the dumper, though; he deserves that.

I'm having kind of a hard time getting a bead on Angela since she started stepping out on Andy with Dwight. On the one hand, I do think she's appalled by the marriage. On the other, I'm not sure it rises to the level of the Sprinkles freezer murder, and she seems to get off on both (a) certain aspects of Dwight taking control, and (b) sticking it to Andy in the most devious way possible. So I don't have a strong opinion about how she's going to feel about the marriage in the long run, and am interested to see where the writers take it.
