The lack of movement on the characters front was a big negative in my view. I enjoyed the movie - expected to see the Balrog and Gandalf in the opening - but I didn't like that, for the most part, we didn't get character development. I also thought they underused Sam, though I did like her playfulness and interaction with Cam. Teal'c though was made of awesome and I'm glad the writers had him interact with Tomin on the subject of doing bad things in the name of a God and having to go on living with that when the blinkers are taken off
( ... )
I really liked the conversation with Daniel and Morgan and would have liked to have seen some more "I'm tried damnit! and I don't want to have to save the world anymore, why don't you just help???!!!" But alas... they didn't and it was disappointing.
That in particular felt like a partially missed opportunity. There was a lot of weird pacing in the part of the episode that was cutting between the half of the team that was in Ori prison and Cam on the Odyssey, and now that I think about it, much less time seems to have passed on the ship than it did on the planet. Hm.
I just posted my own review to much the same effect. I know that if they haven't figured out it's character stuff we want by this point, they never will figure it out. Yet somehow I continue to live in hope.
For me, the great mystery of this franchise continues to be how I can manage to have such love for something that is so consistently mediocre!

I fear that they're going to make the movies even more episodic, since they don't have the guaranteed continuation of a season of episodes to play with. Don't do it, writers! It's a mistake!

nah ;) It was impressive--how could we not comment?! I'll have to go back and watch, but did the camera focus there, or am I mis-remembering...
I think the Teal'c and Tomin scene was the highlight for me. Oh and the Sam/Cam/cookies scene, how could I forget. hee! Although I think Ben Browder would have chemistry with a pile of cinderblocks. (And hey, I can use my Cameron Mitchell zombie icon!)

Yup, that about sums it up, doesn't it!

It's very difficult to explain, isn't it?

Maybe I'll just point people to your LJ later. I still can't think of much to say.

At minimum, that area seemed to be the weirdly focal point of the blocking in that scene. Oh SG-1. Pearls before swine, her in the cast.
OMG, most appropriate icon ever!
