"Haven't you tasted enough garbage for one day?"

Jan 09, 2008 16:46

I am so sick of being sick. This weekend was a total wash--though I did end up watching quite a bit of Season 3 of due South, just me and the couch and my gnat-like attention span, throbbing sinuses, bottomless glass of juice, and rapidly accumulating Mt. Everest of tissues ( Read more... )

Hi! I found you and connected with you on Ravelry. I'm going by my non-secret-superhero identity there.

I think you did the smart thing by setting up a knitting LJ to go with it. I may have to do that, if I think I'll update with details often enough.

I love ICBaD, primarily for Fraser and Bruce. I love Bruce--I think the actor is awesome--and he somehow serves to magnify Fraser's awesomeness (IMO), his ability to connect with people slightly-left-of-center. Plus it has a classic Kowalski moment ("shake, bad guys, shake," aka the moment I fell in love with him), and that scene at the end in the forest, with the rain and "Brothers In Arms," gives me chills every time. (And, unfortunately, Elaine won't be back. So: yay for her graduating and being a cop, boo for that being the last we ever see of her ( ... )

asta77 told me that she thinks it reveals more than I'd want to know, so take that for what it's worth; I know you and I are pretty similar in our attitudes about spoilers.

Also, it been a long time since I've used BSG icons regularly. NOT COOL, SCIFI.

I think the writers hit the balance perfectly with them, showing what went wrong (as you say, I think Kowalski would be exhausting to live with, being the big gaping hole of need and all, as well as having that very focused idealized view) while still showing what was right.

I liked the combination of firmness and underlying sweetness she treated Ray with, with just a hint of underlying regret; it seemed like she was the one making the healthy, hard choices because Ray never would--he'd just pitch headlong over the cliff. I'm sad, but not surprised, that she gets a bad rap sometimes. I actually ended up really liking what that episode revealed about Ray as a person, which is funny, because in the first five minutes, I was so sure that what it was telling me was that Ray was a psycho. Heh.

There is a cherished AU in my head where Fraser and Janet hook up and wander the wilds, kicking ass for justice. And having really hot sex and beautiful, capable children.Oh, but that would be too easy, and for some reason, Fraser clearly doesn' ( ... )

I don't have anything smart to say in response, but I really enjoy reading your Due South commentary.

I'm sorry you're still sick! I was feeling better Sunday and then wore myself out Monday and now I'm sniffling and coughing again, but fortunately most of the overall ickiness has gone. *knocks on wood, turns around three times, etc* I hope you feel well soon!

I'm glad you're doing better too! I'm feeling vastly less icky too, but it's really up and down, and there is still way too much going on in my sinuses for comfort.

And I'm glad you enjoyed the episode reactions. Aw, Elaine!

ack I am sorry you are still sick! glad it's abating, if slowly.

My sister is on ravelry; I think she's linnakat although I'm not 100% sure on that. I just got another pair of socks from her in the mail. yay socks!

I join you in spoiler-free BSG S4 solidarity!

When I was poking around today, ravelry recommended linnakat to me as a neighbor because she's also working on the Lizard Ridge afghan. Weird.

As far as networking software goes, it's a pretty interesting piece of work; they have isolated all the link points for knitters. I'm not actively trying to network there, because I need another social networking site like I need a hole in the head, but the way it links up patterns and yarns makes it a really invaluable tool.

I join you in spoiler-free BSG S4 solidarity!

Here's hoping SciFi doesn't start throwing clips into promos. I could see them doing that.
