I really don't think Andy is trying to torment Dwight by telling him about his progress with Angela. There's no reason to believe he knows about the two of them, and he's just not that subtle. If he were trying to be cruel we'd know it because he'd say things like 'guess who got to first base with your ex'.
In previous episodes, it did seem like Andy was rubbing it into Dwight that he was getting somewhere with Angela because he knew it bothered Dwight. But, yeah, he doesn't actually know about the two of them, and Andy Bernard is not Mr. Subtle, so it's probably not deliberate at this point. I was telling vonnie_k that I think Andy has two categories of male interaction: enemy and frat buddy. Dwight's gone from the first to the second, but the outcome is the same, because Andy is really that inept.
I could not love Emerson more even if I tried. (That was my favourite line of the ep as well, and I don't know knitting from purling.) Chi McBride's line deliveries are *perfection*. I'd only seen him in surly dramatic roles before (he played someone incredibly unpleasant *and* badly-written on House a couple of seasons ago and I hated his -- well, the character's -- guts back then) and had no idea of McBride's comedic gifts.
Mostly, I watch this show with a stupid grin plastered across my face for 45 minutes -- not much analysis, but a whole a lot of the happy.
As for The Office, this felt like the return to the form, and not just in length. And oh, that ad, and everyone's expression at the end!
It was so weird, and so great, so horribleriffic, so fabuterrible, so something, with the strange scenarios and the clever structure, the passing of the paper from one hand to the other, the connectedness.
Yeah, I agree about the tightness. I was actually satisfied with a half hour episode for once which was nice. Good point about the negotiating breakups. Pam and Michael doing creative things really does show their creative sides, that deep longing. But it was also nice to see the singing showing that they're not the only ones who love the creation as was also shown in the happy ad smiles. I loved Jim's reaction as well both in the difference of him and Roy but because he wasn't as into it because Pam's moving on while Jim is still stuck in his old job. I hope they go back to that more. I really loved how the ad was about connection and how it further connected them in the bar with all their smiles to each other about making it.

Also, Emerson rocks like a mighty rocking thing.

I loved that line and I'm not even a knitter. Even the Televisionary highlighted it as the best line of the ep.

YES. That.

The times when these people feel good about what they're doing, or about spending time together, are few and far between, and lovely when they happen.
