Yeah, I've actually talked to a couple of temp agencies. I've tested high on the very lame office programs... but I guess today, ppl are willing to work for next to nothing, so when I come in asking for less than half of what I was earning before, it still seems "high" to temp agencies.

I need to dummy down.

Do Target or Safeway offer employee discounts? That might be helpful given that the price of freaking everything is going up.

Dunno. All I do know is... I'm fucking embarrassed that I'm even thinking of becoming some sort of "check out" person. I don't mean to put my nose high in the air, but for fuck's sake... I've been doing work and earning money to the level of mid mgmt... and here I am unable to get a job at all.

I agree with you though... today's costs for everything definitely creates a different level of "need" and perks like a "discount" on items, if it's offered, almost seems like money in my pocket. something to consider at least.

Things in this economy are pretty scary right now. The only time I've ever been this slow at work was when my previous boss died and all our customers left. I fear that I'll be in your position sometime. Things are far from being over.

Reminds me of when the tech bubble burst. I spent nearly a year unemployed which, unfortunately, ate through all of my savings. I'm still trying to recover and get back to where I was before.
