Trimet-accessible hiking

Aug 08, 2008 15:48

Hi guys!

A few friends and I wanted to go hiking on Sunday, but with one problem: we don't have a car. Are there any good hiking trails that are accessible by trimet? We are willing to walk from the bus stop to the trail, but preferably not super far. I googled it, and failed.

x-posted to damnportlanders.

Thanks!

There are several listed in 60 Hikes within 60 Miles: Portland. Unless someone beats me to it, I'll post details when I get home tonight.

I've enjoyed taking Max to the Zoo and walking to town from there. You have a choice of trails through Forest Park. I like Maclay.

That's about every hike I was going to mention. :)

There's also Marquam Trail to Council Crest. Take the #8 to to Sam Jackson & Terwilliger. It's about 200 yards to the trailhead just west of some water towers. It's an easy 3.7 mile hike to Council Crest.

Hop the 9 to Powell Butte at 16160 SE Powell Blvd.

There's also the Marquam Trail up past OHSU off of Marquam Hill Rd.

Both great when you have some a some hours to spare.
