It was mid afternoon of a Monday when Jack was finally released from the hospital. Alex took a leave for the rest of the week so he can tend to Jack’s needs. Mommy B was driving the car while Alex and Jack were settled in the backseat.
Alex insisted not to be away from Jack even for just a couple of minutes. Mommy B. just watched them through the rearview mirror, glancing back to the street once in a while, as she drives carefully not wanting to have another accident that would surely leave them in pieces.
Jack just sat there gingerly still wary of the persons around him, it’s been a week since he’s been with this people but he still feels strange and he always felt stupid that he barely recognize him but he always manages to bring a tingling sensation in his stomach whenever the boy looks and smiles at him, especially when their skins collide at some point when the boy helps him at something.
He’s been meaning to ask Alex about the dream he had the other night but he always ends up getting interrupted or delayed by something. When it comes to Mommy B he’s not having a hard time recognizing her, he even remembers some flashes of his early memories with the lovely lady, after all she’s his Mother.
Though Alex had insisted that he’d sit with Jack, he felt awkward afterwards. Not really knowing what to say or how to act in front of the younger boy. He gambled one glance toward Jack’s direction and he saw that Jack is as engrossed to his own thoughts as he is.
Alex is so bothered of the thought that Jack might remember all too soon the reason why he had the accident. What if Jack won’t give him a chance to even explain and just accuse him as easily as he did not many nights ago? But he shook those thoughts away, he knows that Jack is better than that. He knows that Jack will understand, he always do.
“Why are you boys so quiet?” Mommy B interrupted the war of thoughts going on in the head of the two.
Alex gave her a small smile as Jack offered a grin.
“Do you mind if we grab lunch first?”
A quiet No from Alex as Jack said a loud Yes insistently at the same time.
Mommy B gave him a confused look. “Why Jack?”
“I, uh, I just wanna go home. I guess I’m just tired.” Jack said.
He really just want to go home, he wants to talk to Alex now. The anticipation is eating him, he can’t take it any longer.
Hearing Jack being so persistent in going home makes Alex's growing turmoil almost reach the boiling point. He wanted to go to some diner and grab lunch first to stall some time. Jack has been trying to talk to him since yesterday but always got interrupted.
He’s fright escalated to some heights when Jack gave him an unusual look. It speaks of unvoiced questions that knotted his insides, he felt sick and wanted to throw up. He braced himself, not knowing why he felt that way, he’s so terrified. He just wanted to go to his own house right now. Curl up into a ball and break silently, he feels like he’s falling apart. Alex feels that the time he wished won’t come, is approaching at great speed.
This is gonna be a long drive home.

A/N: As I've said in the first A/N I just wanted to finish this already because I just don't want to leave it unfinished, after this story is done I don't think I'll post anymore, or maybe post things just here on my journal so that no one really sees it, I will not post anymore on ATS because I'm not worthy to be in there and I'm just making shitty fics so yeah. But I'm still going to lurk and give some love through my comments. :)
