When I was back at home, around this time of year, we had a festival called Watanagashi. It was the big event of the year when I was back at home, and I was the shrine maiden who did the festival dance. Well, that's certainly one way to remember someone. Not that I think he was so good for trying to blow up important places, he definitely wasn't, but...I don't think anyone needs to die really painfully.

I think I told you about this before, but my city has the Lorelei Festival every year on New Year's. People come from all over the world for it. There's a big ceremony at the cathedral, and lots of festivities in the streets!

Hm... in a few days, if I'm not mistaken, it will be St. Swithin's Day. And after that a... rather more serious commemoration. Rather like the celebration of Guy Fawkes mentioned above, but less celebratory. Though perhaps it wouldn't be considered a 'festival' like you had hoped for.
