here]It was surprising to see that no one else had left yet. All the doors were closed as she walked down her block and into the hallway on her left, though she could clearly hear a few voices here and there, probably talking with their fellow roommate. While she would never admit it openly, being the only one in the hallway was rather creepy

At least it wasn't too late at night, though that was small comfort after somehow managing to sleep for an entire day. If only she'd managed to talk to someone about meeting up for the night or something, maybe then she'd have somewhere to go or at least a clue about a good place to explore. But no. Here she was, wandering the hallways in the hope that she found something useful.
This kind of sucked, didn't it. Minako glanced around the darkness for a moment, wrinkled her nose, then moved on into the hallway.

It was slow-going; no gloves meant she had to drag her her bare fingers along the wall, and it hurt if she went at a pace faster than that of a snail. When moving to the new hallway, she had to be without even that paltry guide as she stuck her hand out in front of her and walked forward until her hand hit wall again. And she had to do it slowly, so as not to bruise her hand.
Grumbling to herself about the lack of gloves, she turned and continued along this wall. Avoiding anyone who might be standing in the hall was trickier. If they had a light (and why wouldn't they?), she just had to skirt around the light. For people skulking around without their flashlights, well- Mele's non-confrontational fighting style meant she sensed movement better than others in Rinju Den might. As long as she remained cautious, she could get around that. Of course, that meant she had to resort to counting her steps-something she'd never done before, but which was a little reassuring thing, something solid to cling to through the dark-when ( ... )

Claire exited the room cautiously, making noiseless tracks from her room to the end of the hall. She was much better off tonight than she had been last time. There was a crude map in her pocket (more useful than not), a radio in the other (we shall have to see), and a long knife in her hand. Her backup defense consisted of five ballpoint pens and a set of keys. If worse came to worst and she lost the knife, she could stab some soft spots with the pens. And threading jagged keys through your fingers made for an excellent punch that gouged and bruised all at once. That trick she had learned from her mother, who had told it to her to keep her safe walking alone around the city.
Hopefully she wouldn't have to resort to that, though. Could be messy, and Claire wasn't tall enough to be taking on fist fights with anyone much bigger than she was.

There were things Lana could say. Should say, before Ema had no reason to trust anything she said to be the truth. She said none of them. She stared at the circle of light on the floor in front of her, like it alone could provide illumination, and continued to walk.

Her vision was completely useless, but her other altered senses were not blighted by the darkness. Ema could hear her sister's breathing, tense and too-controlled. She could feel the tension in the muscles in her hand. Maybe she was imagining it, but she felt almost as if she could feel Lana's elevated pulse through the handhold... although it was just as possible that the pulse was her own.
The sooner they met Detective Gumshoe, the better.

Rounding the corner into the F block, Guybrush ignored his aching leg and everyone around him, finally slowing as he reached the hall where he'd seen Elaine just the night before. He peered down the corridor- everything was the same as it had been the previous night, right down to the creepy shadows and him catching his breath.
The only difference? Elaine was nowhere to be seen. What if her roommate was right and she was gone?
Guybrush shook his head, heading for her door. There was no point in worrying about it yet, not until he was sure there was a problem at all. Elaine was the queen of turning a bad situation around. He was confident she was just fine. Juuuuuust fine.
[Making his way this way.]
