Knowing that he'd been part of a sleep study the night before, his nurse watched his still, bandaged figure with a worried look. The procedures could wear on the patients sometimes, even if their fear of them was exaggerated. The worst she could say about Daniel was that his stare could be disconcerting and that he had an incorrigible habit of angling for an extra dessert. Other than that, he had always been a polite, cooperative charge.
Her tiny frown made her forehead crease: it was unusual for him not to be awake when she or one of her colleagues came to lead him to breakfast. With a sigh, she decided to let him sleep longer. Any way she looked at it, he would benefit from the extra rest.
