The moment that he stepped out onto the field, Guy could tell that it had seen a lot of action earlier in the night, mainly by the sight of trampled grass and the hints of voices in the distance. It seemed eerily quiet now that it was so close to morning (or so he guessed, even though the moon seemed to almost always be in the same place when he remembered to look), but he still didn't want to stay outside any longer than they had to.
Taking Claude's advice, he immediately turned left, hugging the wall as he started to move straight for the other door. It wasn't all that far, so they would probably be able to get back inside before any possible threats even had the chance to notice them.
That's what he was hoping for, at least.

Then again, it occurred to him that he had a vague recollection of dropping his jacket back on the Calnus. He wondered if he'd wound up losing it for good, or if Dad had accidentally found it. The thought made Claude uneasy, but he just had to push that aside at the moment. It was better to focus on what he had control over right then, and that was getting a chance to meet up with his father ( ... )

However relaxed Allelujah might have been feeling earlier, it evaporated once they stepped out into the rec field. There was something about the air here, felt like there could be a storm brewing. The air was heavy, thick and humid. Entirely unpleasant too, like it was going to stick to his tongue and the roof of his mouth.
"I don't think this is normal," he muttered, as he pressed back against the wall next to the door.
