Night 51: F-A Block Hallway

[ from here ]There were a few scattered bodies, but none that Claire recognized. Still, it was better than the emptiness she'd faced in the hallway where her room was. That was remotely reassuring. Confirming on the map where the staircase was, she tucked it away into her pants pocket in an awkwardly folded rectangle and continued moving through the halls that were, unfortunately, becoming pretty familiar to her ( ... )

Looked like the other patients were already on the move. That worked just fine for Rita. The more people there were out there, the less likely Rita was to be targeted by a monster.

Hopefully, all the other people out in the halls were smart enough to realize they were potential targets and were able to defend themselves. From the number of people who left their rooms at night, it sometimes seemed like nobody thought to stay behind and out of danger. Chances were, a good portion of these patients were reckless idiots.

But that wasn't any of Rita's concern. Keeping out of the way of the other patients, she kept walking forward, her flashlight illuminating the way for her.

Morgan kept her guard up, just like always, but she wasn't too worried about running into guards in this hallway anymore. And she definitely wasn't worried about anyone else--now that she'd had a couple of days to look around, she was confident that she could take any of the wimps here with two hands and one leg tied behind her back. Except maybe for LeChuck, but he was kind of a special case.

LeChuck. Morgan's fist tightened on the closet rod as she walked. She'd have to figure out a way to deal with him. What, though?

[From here. Sorry for the wait!]

Guybrush, figuring he could catch Morgan as she left the lady halls, headed back the way he came. Conveniently enough, she was already out and about, carrying the same thrashing stick she'd had a couple of nights before. He had to hand it to her, she certainly did come prepared.

"Hey Mo," he addressed as he approached her. "Good thing I found you. You doing anything tonight? Rattling the rogues or bashing the baddies or perusing the puzzles?" Or anything with which she needed his expert help? Guybrush was determined to sweeten the pot for his Punkydoodle- there had to be something he could do.

Morgan was almost out of the hallway when she saw a familiar pirate--with a familiar underpants sash--walking toward her. "Hey, Guybrush," she greeted him. "Some guy on the board agreed to make me a sword, so I'm collecting metal for it. Elaine and I bashed a few pipes in the ladies' room last night, but we didn't get enough to make anything that could hold a candle to the Blade of Dragotta." Although maybe that amount was fine for whatever infinitely inferior weapon Elaine used, she refrained from adding. Despite her natural inclination to be snarky about the former (current?) Governor of the Tri-Island Area, last night hadn't been too bad, and she did want to demonstrate to Guybrush that she was doing her part in getting along with his Lainey-Poo (bleccch ( ... )

"I came to see Elaine, but she's meeting that sword-making guy tonight," Guybrush said with a slight slump. He'd nearly forgotten that Morgan had responded to that notice, too. He took comfort in the fact that LeChuck wasn't getting a sword, so he wouldn't be the only one not carrying a blade. At least he had something to act as a weapon- the shovel had been nasty against the demon frog monsters in the hallway the night before, and it had the added bonus of allowing him to dig up any X-marks he found lying around the building. Who didn't look cool carrying a shovel strapped to his back through a sash made of sweats and underpants?

"She figured I'd be wasting time by following her around and suggested I see what you were doing," he continued, rubbing his hook on the front of his shirt. "You know, I'm glad to see you two getting along, mostly because I didn't think you'd ever be on speaking terms after that fight in Club 41."

A lot of people were out tonight. Amaterasu paid them no mind, just as she did before. She was already running late and time was precious. She couldn't risk waking up the next day, having not remembered what happened again.

Erika was not yet at the meeting place when Momo and Raine reached it. Hopefully she would be there soon, before Xemnas arrived. Turning back to watch for the detective, Momo kept Leavatein down at her side and out of immediate sight. She was surprisingly calm, knowing what she had decided her fate to be. She just hoped it would be worth it. There had to be something to be gained.

"Sage-sensei, I know you are my friend. And as your friend, when we are before Landel, I ask that you stop seeing me as a friend and see me as shinigami. It will be better that way."

Something had been nagging at Raine ever since Momo had said they were going to see Landel, and hearing what her friend said now... "What do you mean by 'better'?" She tried to keep her voice neutral, but couldn't entirely manage it. Especially since even as she asked, she almost knew she wasn't going to like the answer.

Still, she forced herself to reserve judgment until she'd actually heard Momo's reply; she did overreact at times, and she had agreed to act essentially as Momo's subordinate for the night. So Raine owed her the courtesy of at least listening to her.

It seemed like Erika had arrived at the last time. She heard the tail end of a voice asking a question ("better?") and rounded the corner, spotting Momo and another woman waiting in the hallway. Naturally, Xemnas hadn't arrived yet, but he had farther to travel, didn't he? It would take awhile, so perhaps Erika could get some more information about their little mission while they waited.

But maybe not too much. Wouldn't it spoil the surprise?

"Momo-san," Erika smiled, nodding to Momo and then to the other woman politely. "And you are Sage-san?" It was easy enough to deduce, since she was waiting with Momo and had to be Momo's other partner. "My apologies, Battler was unable to join us, but I have another friend who will be accompanying us. He has to come from where the male patients are, so it'll be awhile."

It was simple to locate Erika among the patients lingering in this hallway's darkness. Waiting along with the young detective was the familiar face of Hinamori Momo and a grey-haired woman he had yet to learn the name of. The choice of using this specific hallway seemed all the more logical, but the Nobody couldn't say it mattered. What did matter were the plans for tonight's mission.

It was truly unfortunate that Erika hadn't been able to provide more information, but the bulletin board that was watched by staff and patient alike required a form of secrecy. The notice had succeeded in capturing his interest, however, and he was certain he would learn of the details soon enough.

"I see you have already arrived," Xemnas stated calmly as he approached, bowing his head.
