Day 51: Women's Showers [Fourth Shift]

It was a start, for better or worse. It was an attempt to do better, even if she was doubtful of success. Well. With that one, she'd just have to stick close, is all! The last thing Nigredo needed was to be left alone

This day just kept getting better. At least the showers were separated, with more than a few wooden planks between them. No worries about dirty perverts peeking in or anything. Of course it also meant they couldn't peek back. Not that she would! And not that she was thinking about anything like that!

Sakura stripped down, trying very hard not to glance around and compare her body to the other young women in the shower. She was around the same age, why was she the last to mature?! Just because she was surrounded by idiotic teenage boys didn't mean she wanted a body like one.

Heaving a small sigh, she turned on the shower and started washing out her hair.

There was nothing like a nice, warm shower to relax and forget about all the bad stuff going on for just a few minutes. Unfortunately, this shower was a little less comfortable than her previous ones, with Anise's bandaged hand getting in the way of washing up. The nurse had given her some kind of waterproof wrap to put over the bandage to keep it from getting soggy and gross, but it was still pretty annoying to wear, and the soap and shampoo kept sticking to it

In truth, Claire couldn't bring herself to be surprised that they were thrown into group showers. For security reasons alone, it made the most sense, but that didn't stop her from being apprehensive when the nurses led her in. She tried her best to simply ignore the fact and delayed her disrobing as long as possible in hopes that it would become less crowded by the time she was actually naked. Overall, she did a pretty good job of acting casual about it, but her movements were notably awkward as she tried in vain to cover herself from the few other girls who were still in the showers.

Talk about invasive. It didn't matter that there was a group shower in the school locker room back home, or that some of the cheerleaders had even used it before, because she hadn't and she didn't enjoy being forced into it. But, the option to wait and shower when she went home wasn't there, so she forced herself through it

Much like the last time Erika stepped into the showers, the young girl seemed to have no trouble at all with taking off her clothes and stepping into the showers with the others. It hardly bothered her because it was a good time to check her body, once again, for signs of needle pricks or the like. Yet once again, her skin was flawless. No marks that would indicate foul play her left, and the detective found herself looking at a dead end once again

Ema was extremely grateful for another shower shift. Honestly, two days a week wasn't nearly often enough, especially considering the level of exertion that the night shift required of them (and occasionally the day shift, when the staff encourage physical activity). If she had been in better spirits yesterday, she would have suggested that they have the chance to shower at least every other day into that suggestion box they'd set out. Not to say that the suggestion she did leave in the box--ethical science--was invalid or undesirable, but more frequent showers was a complaint that Landel might concede to. Oh well, it was too late now. Maybe next Sunday
