NIGHTSHIFT 23: HALL CONNECTING M BLOCKS

[From here!]

No monsters yet. Ashton was a little surprised.

He couldn't have been happier about that prospect as he scampered down the hall with Naminé. He'd be fully prepared to take on a bunch of monsters after tonight, after he'd gotten the weapons he needed from the alchemist (such a strange term - alchemists in his world did a completely different thing.)

Hopefully Luxord hadn't arrived in Xigbar's room yet.

Hopefully.. they weren't cutting into Axel at this very moment.

Hurry, hurry, hurry. They had to hurry.

The rooms were passing by as a blur as Naminé panted, trying to keep up pace with Ashton. She hated to be a drag, especially a literal one. Time was of the essence and Naminé could not afford to be slow, though she wondered if she would be moving faster without the flashlights. Still, it was not like Ashton was without his own load to carry.

As they approached the new wing that Naminé could only assume was M Block, she started to tug Ashton to the left, remembering that his own room was to the left. And if they moved upwards, they must have been in the block north of Ashton's, which meant... they were closer to finding Xigbar, she hoped.

"We're almost there!" She panted, as the two entered the upper left section of M Block.

Recluse stayed to the shadows, keeping a wary eye on the other patients and the surrounding gloom. He was glad for the pain relief he had received for his leg. He'd make good use of the time he could save without having to worry about its condition.

He would probably regret not treating it with more care by daybreak, but not much of importance happened then anyway.

He made his way down the hall. If his memory served him right (it never failed him, as far as he would admit), there should be stairs to the second floor at the intersection at the end.

Rabastan's mind wasn't the best for remembering things, but he did manage to keep the number of the Dark Lord's room for over twenty-four hours. That in itself might be a minor miracle. Giving his radio another pat, he continued his lecture to the thing.

"Jack, I've told you ten times if I've told you a hundred: You can't just go wandering off like that! What if I hadn't been able to put you back in your box? Where would you be then? Hmm? You'd still be lost, that's what! Now, I'm not going to spend my whole day... a whole day, mind you... because you went and made the Head Doctor mad. You need to stop that right now, Mister."

Bast shook a finger warningly at the now silent radio before tucking the box back securely in the crook of his elbow and taking out his wand.

"Now we have to go get Master Raistlin and make sure he's safe since I had to leave him alone all day. I hope he didn't get mad and smite anyone. He's sometimes got a terrible temper when he gets mad. Let's just hope he's not angry at us."

Zabuza left the M Block but continued to move along the hallway outside.

Yohji stuck his head out of the door, peering both ways along the corridor to ensure that there was no danger before finally stepping out. "It's clear," he said softly to the others. It might seem kinda' silly to the others, but it was ingrained and he really didn't want to risk it.

He wondered vaugely how Aya and Omi were doing. Maybe he should have offered to stay with them tonight, but he wasn't comfortable enough with them anymore. That would have to wait.

He leaned against the wall next to the door, keeping an eye on the darkness.

Ginji followed him, walking as quietly as he could.

"I'm Ginji, by the way," he said quietly, hoping that the pair of them weren't annoyed that he had intruded into their conversation and wanting to be polite. He also thought it was the right thing to say considering that someone else had joined in right after him. He looked at Yohji, Cliff and Darkwing in the darkness. He didn't really expect them to offer their names, but if they wanted to he was more than willing to hear them.

Well, these people seemed friendly enough. But they also weren't wasting any time, which Darkwing approved of. He didn't have much of an idea of where they were actually going, but he could handle going with the flow and figuring things out along the way.

He remembered the man who was taking the lead from the night before. They had only had a short conversation, but he'd been helpful enough. Though Darkwing realized now that he had never gotten his name, which was...

They were doing the introduction thing now, though. "Darkwing," he offered, hoping that the other two would follow suit.

He also couldn't help noticing that all of them had the same light hair color. Sort of weird.

Cliff nodded at the intros. As far as he knew, Yohji was the only one who could find the chapel. They just had to decide who would stay with.

"Cliff." He offered, barely hesitating. There was a time when he would have been more weary about giving out his name, but that wasn't going to do him a hell of a lot of good here. Darkwing...seemed pretty fake, but he wasn't going to argue it. As for Ginji..

"You're the kid from the bulletin, right?"
