[From
here.]As he entered, Castiel confirmed that this room, unlike the one he'd checked before, was empty. That was preferable; the less people he needed to deal with, the faster he could find what he was looking for. What the room had instead was a plethora of doors. The one to the right most likely led into the room he'd previously checked, but

He moved aside to let Castiel through the door, and then followed.
Izaya didn't see much of anything new once he was inside the room, but there were two more doors, situated in corners he hadn't been able to see from the hall. The double doors Castiel was heading for seemed the mostly likely candidates to lead outside, but he'd comply with the request to check the others. After all, if the double doors didn't lead out, they would need to go somewhere else ( ... )

A first scan of the room revealed nothing. Good. "It's clear for now," he informed the other two. "I suggest we move quickly nonetheless." There was no point in hanging around to find out whether someone listening to them went in for dramatic irony.

It would have been nice if people got some sort of compensation for doing the guards' job for them the occasional night, really. It would also be a PR nightmare, trying to explain the mysterious costs on the payroll--assuming there was a PR person for this place.
He took a quick look around the room for his own sake. "Lucky us," Niikura muttered. Nothing too exciting yet, but maybe that was a good thing.

"He speaks the truth," he added, testing one of the doors. To his surprise, it actually moved. Someone had already been through here. "Pray it never happens to me."

Once inside the next room, LeChuck replied, reproachfully, "And if anyone's singin' fiddle-dee-dee, it'd be Threepwood. I be the kind of pirate that rapes, pillages, and then burns the survivors for fun," he added, with an enthusiastic chuckle.

The second part of LeChuck's snide remark caught Porky's ear, though. In all of his time spent at the institute, he had met a wide variety of different people from many walks of life. This was the first person that he had met, however, that actually seemed villainous. Oh, sure. There had been other people that were undoubtedly evil, but no one that was truly nasty"I've never been one for rape, myself," Porky began, glancing over to his torch, "But if there's one thing I enjoy, it's a good inferno! You should've seen the Sunny Forest when I was firebombing it! The look on the villagers' faces as their beloved grove burnt to the ground...priceless! And as for dealing with the ( ... )

"Oh, I haven't been doin' much o' that since I set my sights on a particular lovely lass, but it be the principle of the thing. And I suppose ye don't know much of the dark arts, do ye? Who said I couldn't burn the survivors and then put them to work?" He grinned slyly - nothing like having your cake and slaughtering it in front of its family too.
"And Thriftweed... I'd been thinking o' working with him. He has a way of figuring himself outta these weird situations. But I would hardly pass up a chance to make him suffer! He's ruined my plans more times than I can remember.

Even though Haseo felt quite a bit of relief in finding that the door led to where it was supposed to this time, his first priority in going through it was definitely to check for danger. It was an odd feeling, to find something going as planned strange, but in the end, the only thing that was out of the ordinary was the presence of two other patients- the first they'd seen since the lights went out. There were no obvious signs of monsters... or the blue flames that would indicate the arrival of another friend in particular.
Given his current state though, the Adept Rogue was far from trusting. He merely gave the other patients a long, hard look before turning back again, his crimson eyes aimed towards the floor in search of further evidence for unexplained flora remnants. Come to think of it, an obvious trail leading from where they'd been might not be such a good idea...

"Haseo...do you feel anything strange? Like that night...I don't sense anything," he said, in a hushed voice, one that shouldn't carry to the others in the area.
The appearance of those blue flames would have been a bad thing, even if he felt more prepared than he had that first night. An actual sword - a sword that was from the same place as that strange boy wearing Kite's appearance - was far better than a pipe, in his case, and Haseo himself was far better armed than he had been ( ... )

"I wonder... if they actually control that guy," the Rogue asked, mostly to himself. He couldn't help but think back to the woman who claimed to have met Azure Kite on a different night, her post to the board about Aura of all things afterward, and the unhelpful meeting with her that Haseo had subsequently stumbled into. He realized he should probably be looking into that more, but once again, wasn't certain where he was supposed to start.
He already knew the files were sorted by family name, which meant that his and Endrance's should be in the second ( ... )

For once, it seemed there was no guardian at the doors. Renamon paused, glancing into the corners of the room, to see nothing. Strange. Still, she wouldn't question fortune. She couldn't remember, however. If the last time she had came here had been with Dairine and Toph. She exhaled slowly, releasing the sensation of loss. Now was not the time to dwell on that.

"So we gonna--You okay?" Since, you know, it was hard to tell with Renamon, especially know that her face was completely different.
