Night 50: M81-M90 Hallway

Jul 09, 2010 19:07

[M85]Guybrush stared at the intercom for a minute after DeLandel was done talking. "Portal Ring?" he asked more to himself than to Scott, looking back toward his desk. He hadn't seen any ring among his collection of assorted knickknacks. It looked like someone else had gotten it from his group- probably LeChuck, knowing his luck. Well, that was ( Read more... )

[Timewarp to assume Muraki left before Izaya got up... let me know if it's a problem?]

It was dark when Orihara Izaya opened his eyes, but he didn't need to look around to know that something was wrong. Even before opening his eyes, he knew that something was different.

He lay still for a moment, taking account of what it was that wasn't as it should have been. The smell of the sheets was wrong, for one, not at all like the faintly fragrant smell he was accustomed to freshly-cleaned sheets being. The feel of the sheets was courser than it should have been, too, and the bed itself was all wrong. When he shifted his head, he could feel something hard and bulky underneath the pillow.

Obviously he wasn't in his own bed.

The sheets weren't the only source of a peculiar smell, either. There was a sharp, pungent odor in the air, like the smell of different medications, overlying a faded scent of disinfectants. He could only guess that he was in a hospital.

The real question was whyHe couldn't remember anything happening that would ( ... )

And once again he was back to waiting for another patient to arrive. Even with the short break, setting things up had become habit. In fact, he had everything ready so quickly that he found himself at a loss for what to do as he waited.

Leon sat against his bed, idly flipping through his dog-eared journal. He'd already checked the drawers for the ring Landel had mentioned and found none. It only made sense, he supposed. Not only had he not been the leader of their group, but they hadn't even ended up in his world. (That he was the youngest might have something to do with it as well.) No matter, though. It would have been wasted on him, what with how he'd be spending most of his time in his room anyway. He was needed here, not messing around in town.

Brook had checked, but there had been nothing resembling a ring anywhere on his side of the room as per the announcement. That worried him somewhat, because it would mean Minato must have had it, and were that young man to get himself once more stuck with that large beast ( ... )

((sorry for the delay!))

Glancing up at the knock, the young mage was quick to stand and answer it, glad to be getting this out of the way so soon. He opened the door by only a couple inches, peering out at the man beyond it. ...And then up. Wow, this guy was tall. Especially compared to Leon, who stood at a mere four and a half feet.

"You're Mr. Brook?" he asked, making sure to attempt to speak like a professional. He wouldn't want the man to wander off thinking he had the wrong room just because of his age. "I'm Leon." At least he looked friendly enough, tall but thin rather than three hundred pounds of muscle or something equally frightening.

Given that this was the men's block still, Brook had certainly expected to be greeted, if by anyone, by someone male. However he would not have expected someone so short young to be who he had been conversing with over the bulletin. He thought a moment that he may have the wrong room, or perhaps had encountered the roommate first, but the boys knowledge of his name put those thoughts to rest.

"Yohohoho! Well good evening!" Brook greeted once it settled in. Best to go with it than stand there shocked. Bending down, he provided the boy with his usual toothy grin, "I must admit I was not expecting to meet someone so young, but you must be talented for Minato-san to have recommended you!" Because Brook knew Minato oh so well after just one night of insanity. "I am indeed Brook. A pleasure to meet you, Leon-san! Or as much of a pleasure as anything can be in this place. Yohohohohoho!"

Scott waved to Guybrush as he checked his own drawer. Dang it - no ring for him. Did that mean Shinichi had gotten both the watch thing and the portal ring? Lame! Landel was a terrible DM; he couldn't even distribute random item drops properly.

Oh well, he thought; maybe someone in the group tonight would have one, Scott hoped. That way, at least the group as a whole would have some kind of save point on their dungeon crawl. At last! A goddamn save point! He could hardly wait just thinking about it. Hopefully that meant no more risk of being shot or maimed on the way to the basement after tonight. That would be pretty sweet in his books.

Quickly, Scott gathered all his usual items for the night, and with his new aluminum baseball bat gripped firmly in hand, he set out.

This ring sounded interesting, as did "special counseling." In fact, there was a lot to consider from the announcement, as LeChuck took his flashlight and checked his closet. There was indeed a wood rod, like that Morgan wench and the lovely Elaine had. Even as a human, he was exceptionally strong, and held the rod near one end and started hitting the edge.

The private meeting was suspicious... it was addressed to the patient population, so was there was someone working with the doctor? It was unlikely the "investigation" had anything to do with LeChuck, having just arrived, but he'd have to keep on his guard in case there was some kind of spy. But of course, he was already planning to play up his "good side" when dealing with other patients, so-

And after a couple hits, the rod splintered, forcing the nail out, so he could twist the other end out and away, and had himself a basic weapon. And now it was time to go meet his new friend...

[Timewarp before Izaya left! orz]So he had a roommate. He wasn't entirely opposed to the prospect. The institute, for all its failings, certainly had an abundance of pretty faces. For the most part, they were trim, well-kept, and young. It was a good place to start a collection, at least until he moved on again ( ... )
